Grandies are at Southern Lions on the Saturday and Wanneroo on the Sunday.

People tell me the players are being stopped from playing due to their match against Tonga.

    Can anyone confirm that?

Can anyone confirm that all teams are happy to leave these players out?

As the Force match against Tonga is on the Saturday, they simply won’t be around to play finals.

As the Force match is simply helping out an international team with match practice, it seems harsh to the clubs that they lose their players for the biggest match of the season. That's what I'm hearing.

    Don't agree at all.

The match against Tonga is a fantastic privilege and challenge for the Force players as well as a promotion of the game in the region of interest for Global Rapid Rugby. The team want to test themselves against the best. The Western Force was invited to play the Tongan test team. What a buzz for them and a chance to experience yet another country/culture.

The game against the Western Force follows Tonga's game against Canada and immediately before their last pre-RWC games against Fiji and the All Blacks. The Western Force is in illustrious company.

The experience and exposure the players will get in this match will be fantastic as videos of their abilities/efforts will go far and wide through video replays of the match. Rugby scouts will love it.
It's an avenue/pathway for their development which would not otherwise be available to them as aspiring rugby players.

If it wasn't for GRR we'd have no professional players left in WA to even play when available and make their broader contributions to Club rugby. These top players come at ZERO cost to the local clubs.

Such petty, small-minded BS is what's hampering rugby in Australia.

Doesn't bother me one way or the other - we have a referee unable to participate in the Grandies this weekend as he's in camp to prepare for NRC. This gives another ref an opportunity they wouldn't have otherwise had. Actually happened to me a few years ago; with the same ref being called away for national duties.

I was simply reporting what I heard over the weekend.

Fantastic to see the young guys from Club rugby getting a chance against Tonga.

Looks like the best of the rest from the clubs who didn't make the finals.

Great job Western Force/Minderoo and RugbyWA.

Well done to all those that played today. Paly got up over the Bulls today but I am quietly confident our ladies can get the job done tomorrow.
