West Australian community rugby celebrates with the Western Force

    May 14, 2019

The Western Force are giving your local rugby club or school the chance to win big!

Having secured the Rapid Rugby Asia Showcase Series title and the $25,000 winners cheque that comes with it, the Force is now keen to share the cash with the WA rugby community.

How you can WIN a share of the spoils!

The Western Force play Kagifa Samoa and Fijian Latui in Perth as part of the Rapid Rugby Pacific Showcase Series on May 31 and June 21. In the lead up to these games, each RugbyWA affiliated club and school will receive special vouchers for free tickets to these games. Simply redeem your voucher for tickets either online or at the gate to help your club score some awesome prizes.

The three clubs and schools that total the most people through the gates for the Kagifa Samoa and Fijian Latui games will win a share of the 25k, including a main prize valued at $6,000 for the most active club – and every club has an equal chance to win.

Cash will also be allocated to the RugbyRoos regional programme to help subsidise junior registrations into regional clubs.

    RugbyWA Affiliated Club Promotion:

Each voucher provided to your club will contain six complimentary tickets to the Force’s Kagifa Samoa and Fijian Latui fixtures. The vouchers will include a unique club code which will be used to track how many supporters of your club come through the gates at these Pacific Showcase Series games.
The scoring mechanism is created to give every club an equal opportunity to win, from the smallest of clubs to the largest. For example, if a club has 300 members and 250 tickets are redeemed in total over both games using the club’s unique code, then the club would have a score of 83% (250 / 300 x 100). The clubs with the highest percentage win a share of the prize money.
The vouchers can be redeemed via Ticketmaster in the lead up to the games or at any gate for up to six tickets. All tickets redeemed online must be brought to the match to be counted as part of the competition.

    The Prize Packages:

    1st Place
    $2000 cash

Thats actually pretty cool, the fact they are doing something for the schools too is impressive. Does anyone know if Aranmore College is still doing its rugby program and still pumping out future potential Force players?

I always wonder how schools rugby is going these days? Having never played or been to a rugby school I always wondered how different it would be to play for a school instead of a club.

Going to a Rugby school is a massive difference. Training at suitable times for students and parents. Coaches, jerseys and pitches more readily available. Gym programs on site. Schools always look to tour. It can take clubs a couple to fundraise for a tour or just to get new equipment. Schools also have changing facilities.

Clubs struggle to attract and keep coaches due to training hours. The RA give the grassroots nothing (all gone to the Rebels, payouts and lawyers) so clubs have to have their internal officers to go in to schools to run clinics and recruit players.

Yeah I figured it would be alot different, but you do form good friendships from the seasons you play at clubs outside of just your school mates which is a good part of what clubs offer. But I can definitely see the potential for schools to develop players especially combinations and positions with consistent selections over numerous years and also easy access and dedicated time for gym workouts to further development. I guess we hear so much about the clubs we forget about the schools here in WA sometimes.
