Every story I see about Rugby Australia struggling brings me so much joy I expect Marie Kondo to jump out from behind a wall.

As I have said continuously for the last 18+ months. I do not see a relationship between the actions of the current Rugby Australia Board in the dismissal of the Western Force and the Wallabies "entity".

I don't find it offensive Gigs.

I am well aware of the general consensus for the majority of TWF members. I am at peace with it - mostly.

Great. All that brick wall headbanging can only have one outcome. Or two maybe. A lot of lumps and a sore brain.

This is the same reason why Andrew Forrest had Pinochet, Michael Lynagh and others to ensure that GRR wasn't a "Rebel" competition and why they joined up with Hong Kong Rugby when they found Rugby Australia too slow to get their shit together.
It's all theoretical! No-one knows what would happen if RA became bankrupt and folded - I suspect they'd apply for government money to keep them going - but I can say with a high degree of confidence that whatever happened would end up in some court or other. Lawyers are doing well out of Rugby Australia over the past few years!

If RA folded, NSWRU would simply step in, claim primacy, say it is a short term temporary measure only, cancel the NRC, punt the Brumbies and Rebels, choose the Wallabies side, and then decide how the money from the Wallabies side got spent (because that is exactly what the Wallabies are, a side picked by and for RA as the body that represents Australia). So essentially, Rugby in the 1950s.

That would be the base case, unless someone could convince WR they had a better idea and deserved to be the representative body instead.

GRR would have a strong case, Established and endorsed international Competition with support programs in schools and the community and no major fuck ups yet , apart from delays caused by RA Bureaucratic wrangling

But it would have to be government with consent, and I really can't see that ever happening. Or it would have to happen without NSW, and possibly even Q'ld. And if they came along due to a lack of options, they would actively white-ant it all. Frankly, it would be an unholy mess best avoided if you didn't want to drag your comp down with it.

I would imagine the IRB would take control so fixtures can be fulfilled.

Do they have the ability or the infrastructure to take control?

    Can they take control, legally?

I cant imagine the NSW or QLD Boards accepting being told what to do by some Elbow patch wearing administrator based in the UK.

Would that just bring the lawyers back?

They can do it. The IRB have run the Samoan Rugby Union in the past due to their mismanagement. The RA are just custodians of the game in Australia and answer to the IRB.

NSW and Qld have no say in the matter particularly if they want to continue playing the game.

I had been wondering if there were precedents. The kicker of course is whether the 6 Nations and IRB can get agreement the Championship. The money on offer would keep Rats Arse on life support for quite some time - unfortunately. That doesn't bear thinking about. Those wankers might even use the money to prop up SR.
