    Hong Kong
    Singapore
    Malaysia

    This from Mark Doran:

Mark Doran, of GRR, said six teams (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Fiji, Samoa and the Force) were committed to taking part in a full series this year, and they were now in negotiations for the abbreviated “showcase” series for 2019. He said “nothing is locked away as yet.”
    And hope:
“Without giving too much away, we are looking at some international names … and the choice in marquee players for 2019 was understandably restricted because so many players are still in the mix and fighting for the opportunity to play in the World Cup.”
Dan Carter, here we come!! And realise not an option for this year

Ah well, if it's six teams, maybe we might just get a league table and a finals?

I think the Force guys deserve a competition of sorts as two years of invitational rugby is like marking time for the younger ones. The extra Adrenalin that comes from meaningful competition should never be underestimated, imho.

It is better to have a soft launch given the RA only approved it in December. It gives teams time to set up offices, get sponsors and attract personnel. You can’t promote a business without that.

Hong Kong though they are disappointed and are administrating the comp didn’t have a professional standard squad and coaching staff. They couldn’t have got that sorted in two months than go out and promote the team to sell tickets and corporate slots.

Had the IRB got off their arses and stopped buying the RA’s bs, listened to the fans and Twiggy this should have been sorted by July last year. Had that have been the case we would have a competition starting by the end of the month.

But Clyne managed to stall it until the IRB/World rugby met which created huge uncertainly, but its doesnt matter, lesser comps have been organized in lightening speed, look at all the Pacific nation/ american comps over the years
It all comes down to commitment, will they make it happen?, or will they concede to Clynes will and concede to an exhibition series of no meaning giving that swine asshole the satisfaction he wants? I doubt Twiggy is going to let that asshole who should've had the royal banking commission burn his ass win this war, this is a war, not just a battle, Clyne vs Twiggy, who will win! I'm guessing Hodgo will make sure it goes ahead so they can laugh Clyne out the door, bet the arrogant asshole is happy they signed Thai Airways up, what a way to not only alienate all Australian fans but their own Melbourne fans too. The gift that keeps on giving!!! Lol

It has always been six teams. This is from an earlier post.
    This one doesn't mention Robinson's b/s.

Western Force will play a series of showcase games this season ahead of a delayed launch for Global Rapid Rugby that will now kick off next year.
The Force will play about 10 matches. Some games will be against teams from Fiji, Samoa, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia who are expected to play in next year’s competition.
The Force will play home games at HBF Park.
They will travel to Asia, the Pacific Islands and it is understood games may also be played in New Zealand and on the east coast.
Games will be played under the innovative new rules designed to produce a faster game.

Theyve been mentioned as part of the showcase series, so appear to want a hit out. Maybe not a full home and away, but some abbreviated tournament format. You could run an round robin, everybody pays everybody once with some double headers in the locations that have the infrastructure, it'll have some meaning, no pressure on those who aren't ready and more rugby for the teams, which will help them improve. Yes expensive. But good PR with the shit clyne has tried to pull

Yes we can all laugh at Georgina Robinson, the worst journalism to plague Rugby Union in Australia, the official RugbyAustralia mouth piece.. she is basically the new Chris Rattue. Congrats Georgina on your new title! You deserve it.

The IRB only got their act together when Twiggy recruited Pichot for his Latin American operations. There are suggestions that Twiggy is backing a comp in South America similar to GRR. The RA wasted months prattling on about ‘detail’ and throwing in 100 conditions. Their mouthpieces in the media brought it.

This is a major competition with professional set ups some like Fiji will need assistance. Twiggy also needs to sign broadcast deals in a lot of countries not just the six competing ones. You can set up the NRC in a couple months with club and Super Rugby players, state union assistance and Foxsports broadcasting but not a cross border comp like GRR.

I have said my piece on the Thai Airways sponsorship on the WTF thread. Forgetting the hideous Hakeem situation the Rebels have been allowed to sign a deal with an airline that is in a rival alliance to major sponsor Qantas. Brumbies had to get approval to fly with fellow Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines to get to NZ quicker.

Twiggy at least had the smarts to sign Qantas up for the Force.

From Robbie McRobbie - HKRU CEO

    Some important points
    >The same 6 teams will still be apart of the showcase series.
    > The same law variations will be played
    > By the sounds of it games will be played during April/May
    >There are still a few 'marquee' signings for this years comp.
    >Positives for starting next year is that the World cup in Japan will provide a great springboard for the comp and hopefully help ignite the rugby interest in Asia and obviously post World cup a lot more super star players will be available to sign up.
