    Global Rapid Rugby approved

    https://www.world.rugby/news/379046

Conditional sanctioning granted by IRB just has to be approved by participating unions. Pretty sure that has already been done.

The Asian countries rugby body approved of WSR. But I guess technically the USA rugby body (as in the team from Hawaii), Fiji, and Samoa rugby bodies have not yet formally approved of it. And also the RA!

Hmmmm. And around in circles we go.

How friggin hard is it to get anything approved in rugby. Everything is moving at glacial pace.

I thought the participating unions had to approve it before WR would approve it. Makes no sense to me.

It's either world rugby forcing rats arses hand by making it obvious that they're the only holdout or it's world rugby not having the stones to tell rats arse to stop being obstructionist wankers

I also see that Clyne has been appointed to the WR council.
They’re just taking the absolute piss right? How the fuck does he warrant a spot on the council?!
His record as a rugby executive administrator doesn’t immediately scream out as deserving a spot at the big kid’s table.

I believe that Fiji have which is backed up by their unlikely inclusion in to the dying Super Rugby comp.

You may find that some have already endorsed and others would not until WR had given it's endorsement, if they did before so, it may have been taken as a sign of disrespect of WR in those countries eyes. Not every country has the cultural understanding.

I'm sure it is just a technicality and if any countries choose not to join, there are plenty more waiting that will.

I doubt RA would even try to stop Western Force from playing, they have seen the size of the fight in this old dog and we know it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's size fight in the dog.

Let's see what Twiggy has to say in a few hours, I'm sure we can all wait another 2.5 hours.

His position as chair of rugby Australia. He might be a dick, but that doesn't mean world rugby can skirt around due Process.

I am going declare a "Clyne free day" on myself. Lets focus on the real news and good news today.

When I was searching for GRR news, I came across this story about JOC, and how he has cleaned up his act. Might be a good signing.

    https://www.rugby.com.au/news/2018/1...petaia-feature
"The World Cup still seems a dream that may be just out of reach, less than a year away and the small matter of need an Australian homecoming to be Test eligible.

The Western Force have expressed an interest in 44-Test back O’Connor but whether players in next year’s rebranded Global Rapid Rugby are deemed Wallabies eligible is yet to be seen."

So the time between his December 2015 appointment as chair of the ARU/RA and now was just about completing that due process?

It won’t be 48-72 hours put it that way.

The Women’s RWC vote was 25-17 apparently the home unions voted for the RA but the southern unions didn’t.
