TBF, I'd say the guy knows MLR exists and has exclusive USAR sanctioning. While I have a question mark over his plans ... I will give him that much.

Re: Hawaii. I reckon Fale's involvement turned on having a team there - so it seems that's the go for 2020.

Yep it's the Pacific. Mid Pacific rather than being near us, but it is what it is.

So we'll see how it plays out I s'pose.

Umm, it was the Pacific Ocean last time I checked. And last time I checked Hawaii was not mentioned in reference to "Asia Pacific focus" either.

But it still technically is part of the greater Pacific region. So it kind of qualifies.

So is Canada and Chile ... technically.

GRR could spread there. But in a round-robin type of comp, I think travel becomes a concern for us and others going to Hawaii for a season of what is a fledging club comp.

    Just my opinion.

I know. But like I said before. Hawaii was not mentioned at all in my post.

However I do think its too far away. Initially at least.

It's a bit of a stretch for sure.

I agree. Might be a little too far to start. A bit far fetched here. But the Sth American Pro League is kicking off next year. Could be a future link in with that in say a Cup competition.

As is approximately 1/3 of the planet. Asia-Pacific, might refer to "the Asian side of the Pacific"

So is there going to be two separate teams one based in Samoa and one based in Hawaii?

That's what the RNZ item is suggesting.

An official announcement of Rapaid Rugby''s plans for the first season (next year) is still a ways off, though, I think.

    Thanks for the reply.

Is there any stats on time the ball is in play for?

If it’s longer than it is for 80 minutes I’d be happy for all club rugby to make the move to 70 minutes.

I don't have stats other than a claim last year (for WSR) of average ball-in-play time being comparitively higher than for Super Rugby.

Anecdotally, at least, there seems to be less time expended on scrum resets and other assorted delays - although I did notice a bit of a delay for one reset near the death of last night's game. There's still a requirement for a proper scrum set but it does seem the gaming of repeated resetting is gone.

Anecdotally it is improving. I know I get to the end of a Rapid Rugby game wanting more, whereas more often than not with Super Rugby I give thanks when it is finally over.

I think they said last year the ball was in play the same amount of time as a super rugby match but WSR was over 70min, not 80min. Therefor there was a higher avg of ball in play time in relation to the match time.
