World Rugby meets on 14 November.
I reckon we can expect announcements over the next 10 days or so and certainly before the end of November.
Looking back over what seems like years - but it's really only been weeks and days - we can only be impressed by the tenacity of the Minderoo team.
Western Sydney gets locked in only to have NSW Rugby (Andrew Hore) say "No".
New Zealand team in the mix and it appears that NZ then turns around and says "No" (we like the concept - but not yet).
World Rugby evidently turn around and says you have to change your name - so any agreements up to that time have to have "change clauses" added.
Hawaii comes from nowhere - but are they stayers?
2 teams from Japan - but all seems very quiet on that front?
Will it be 6 teams, 7 teams (with a bye - which could mean the chance of longer visits to exotic places) or 8 teams??
What will be the make-up of the teams and where will they play?
What marque players have already been signed? Which big names? How many of them will be Aussies/Wallabies?
We'll know very soon.......so glad that the Minderoo team is MIH.
Looking forward to the Western Force Awards night tonight.........(Glad they dropped the price!)

I keep seeing this one bandied about - does it come from someone in a place of knowledge, or is it just getting repeated for the sake of?

Sorry Alison if you addressed both points - I meant the second half, not the first.

Change clauses probably are not a big obstacle if it's just substituting the new name.

<edit> forgot to type the "not"

Sorry, I misunderstood. I have no info about the change clauses.

Just looking at the World Rugby council members and 13 of the 45 are from SANZAAR countries (included Japan). I wonder if they will recuse themselves from discussion and voting when it comes to approving GRR, which SANZAAR would regard as a competitor to Super Rugby.
SANZAAR is a joint venture owned by the RA, NZRU, SARU and Argentine Rugby Union.
    Surely a conflict of interests?

Remember how Brett Robinson insisted Pichot recuse himself previously from WSR discussion at World Rugby because Pichot works for Twiggy.

And how Clyne insisted Stooke recuse himself from ARU discussion and voting on the axing of the Force from Super Rugby

Well to not recuse themselves would amount to extreme hypocrisy, arrogance and delusional sense of entitlem.........as you were.

I am a little nervous about this WR decision, despite the fact that only a few weeks ago the World Rugby executives have recommended GRR (or WSR then) to the WR council for a decision.

When Twiggy's team had a meeting a few months ago with NSWRU and Raelene, she issued a press statement, saying the Western Sydney WSR team was approved subject to certain conditions. The only comment from NSW was their concern about WSR signing Shute players. Then weeks later NSW suddenly weakly say there is not enough time for the Western Sydney team to be organised properly and stall WSR for a year or two. Not a word from Raelene. I wonder if Clyne and Robinson leaned on NSW and Castle? (and now that Tongan and Samoan orientated GRR team will be in Honolulu and therefore possibly more Australian based players playing overseas and lost to NSW).

    From Rugby Reg on G&G
Rugby’s governing body, the World Rugby Council, is considering final approval for the competition in London tonight.
If approval is forthcoming, media is advised that Andrew Forrest will unveil comprehensive details including teams, new laws and marquee players via a broadcast quality Electronic Media Release distributed after 9am AWST tomorrow, November 15.

Twiggy is going to busy tomorrow. It is the FMG agm as well. Sounds like he may have already pre-recorded the GRR details.
