Western Force v Queensland Country Team Announcement
    October 19, 2018
The Western Force are heading into the semi-final against Queensland Country this Sunday at Bond University with an unchanged team.

Coach Tim Sampson thinks the last weekends game against the Fijian Drua was an example of how strong this team can be and believes they will deliver an equally as strong, if not improved, performance away.

“In finals footy, you’ve got to put your best team on the paddock and we are fortunate to roll out the same squad again this week,” he said.

“There were some tough calls that had to be made last week and again this week. There are some very good players missing out.”

Sampson says the combination through the middle has been beneficial in their game so far and is excited to see what they will bring in the finals.

“We’ve got some really good game managers in Ian Prior, Andrew Deegan, Rodney Iona, through those 9,10,12 positions. When they see an opportunity they call it,” he said.

“A strength of ours has been exploiting the opposition in certain areas of the field, whether that’s through the middle or on the edge we’ve been quite good there.

“This week we’ll obviously play to our strengths, whether that’s in the backs or the forwards, it changes every week.”

The Force take on Queensland Country at Bond University this Sunday, October 21 at 12:00pm (AWST).

Hope they stick to the right game plan this week, kicked away too much ball to the Drua. And with those huge monsters on the Drua team, some of the guys were getting trampled at the end I thought, along with coughing up the ball. Dare say QLD Will be working on scrums this week, but they’ll have to work hard to beat the Force! Think we’ve been missing Brache’s presence as well.

It was a shocker kicking all that good ball away, if that was the game plan then the coach needs shooting, the captain Prior should have known better and pulled the team into line, all they needed was patience and the points would have come but they kept trying to force their hand time and time again/ and or kick the ball back to Fiji. Strange but if they dont learn from it then they deserve to lose.

Every time the Fijians turned over the ball, why the Force didn't take it as a gift and knuckle down with possession and grind them down, is beyond me. It's true that when the Fijians throw it around, it rubs off on the opposition, who try to do the same, but nowhere near as good.

Yeah, we got pulled into playing the Fijian's style of game when we should have tried to stay with the gameplan from the first ~20 minutes. It may be that style of play is pretty tiring and difficult to maintain for 80 minutes, but surely it's better to try than switch to tactics where you are trying to defend against Fijians running at you constantly!

I would love it if we could form mauls spontaneously, rather than just from set-piece. We'd be killing teams if we could do that.

Well let's all hope the Viking knock off Fiji so we are atleast in with a shot of getting a home Final. Atleast it would be in our own destiny if the Vikings did win. Game starts in just under 2 hrs..

    Vikings swamped second half.

They're now a try behind with less than 10 to go.
