Great to see Lacey back from injury. I think losing Taefu will be a big loss but will be interesting to see how Pisi goes as he has not had much game time.

Western Force v Sydney Rays Team Announcement
    September 28, 2018

The Western Force have brought back several players to take on the Sydney Rays at UWA Sports Park this Sunday.

George Pisi will make his NRC debut coming on to play outside centre with Henry Taefu recovering from a short-term shoulder injury.

Coach Tim Sampson said he is looking forward to Pisi running back on after a frustrating year with injuries.

“He’s an experienced player who will be really important to us in the coming weeks,” Sampson said.

“Having George inside him (Masivesi Dakuwaqa) will be hugely beneficial.”

After a strong performance in last weekend’s win against Queensland Country Heath Tessmann will start as hooker with Harry Scoble moving to start from the bench.

Fijian powerhouse Masivesi Dakuwaqa will start on the wing replacing Marcel Brache who is recovering from a knee injury.

Sampson thinks the former Fijian 7’s Gold medallist is adapting nicely to the 15’s style of play.

“The last month, going back to back weeks has really improved Masivesi in all aspects of the game,” Sampson said.

Brad Lacey has been called up to play his first NRC game of the season to start on the bench after a knee injury during the Australian Stockman’s Rugby game earlier this year.

Twenty-four-year-old Markus Vanzati is also set to return to the NRC paddock this weekend for his first game of the championship.

Sampson said Vanzati has been training exceptionally well and he is looking forward to seeing what he does with this opportunity.

“We just want to give Markus an opportunity to show what he has got,” he said.

“Hopefully he can go out and put in a strong performance coming off the bench.”

The Sydney Rays will have the chance to win the Horan Little shield after the Force kept it in their possession by winning their last home game against NSW Country.

In: George Pisi, Brad Lacey and Markus Vanzati.
Out: Henry Taefu, Marcel Brache and Cameron Orr.

Lost 2 centres, and still able to turn out 2 Samoan internationals at centre!

Hope Alcock, Brache & Taefu are OK - the finals look close and hvaing them back will be a boost.

Imagine Rona & Shambeckler will be having a downer on Sunday, their playing contracts haven’t exactly worked out too well for them. Might be feeling the pull back home to Perth, but not sure there’s a spot for them anymore.

This game should really be targeted by Coach Sampson and his team, particularly since Sydney upset the apple cart at McGillivray last year.

Want to see a win first of all, AND then a three try margin.

Need keep pushing the top of the log for the finals.

Be the Force for Farmers in need
Farmers around Australia need our help to keep their cattle, sheep and horses alive through one of the worst droughts in living history. These farmers have been feeding us for hundreds of years and are the backbones to Australian agriculture.

Together, small gestures can make a BIG difference.

With your generosity and support, we hope that we can help provide aid to the thousands of farmers and their livestock who are doing it tough.

Our goal is to reach a minimum of $9500 so we can provide a semi-trailer worth of hay and transport it to an affected area.

Every donation through this page will go directly to the ‘Buy a Bale’ (Rural Aid) Foundation, who do great work to reach those in need.

You can donate as little as $10 and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

    Your donation in action:

$20 buys a small bale of hay and helps transport it to the affected areas
$60 buys 3 x $20 gift cards to help put food on the table
$100 buys a large bale of hay
$500 buys 5 large bales of hay
$1000 buys 10 large bales of hay
    $5700 buys a single-trailer load of hay
$9500 buys a semi-trailer load of hay and transport it to an affected area

Nice little move by Tim Sampson to pur pressure on the refs.

Western Force coach Tim Sampson wants clarity from referees
    Nick Taylor The West Australian
    Saturday, 29 September 2018 11:12AM

Western Force coach Tim Sampson has called for consistency from referees at the scrum ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s National Rugby Championship clash with Sydney Rays at UWA Sports Park.
The Force pack has a 94 per cent success rate at the set piece, but Sampson believes it has too often been penalised instead of being rewarded.
“We just want to know what the referees want from us,” Sampson said.

Just casually watched the most boring game of Rising & Vikings-why did I bother? There seemed to be 50 spectators at best. I’m sorry, but the Rebels Rising games skills seem to have gone backwards. I imagine the boys must be badly missing the Sea of Blue support they used to get. The team just looks very despondent. It’s hard not to gloat, & they still look wrong in that uniform.

The steam has gone out of the Chairman's XV and some of them know they will be replaced next year. It is a matter of when. There seems to be a story going around that Ross Haylett-Petty won't be going back to Melbourne.
