Twickenham to host Saints v Tigers in aid of Rob Horne

Good to see the rugby family come together in aid of a player.

To his credit Rob Horne never took a backward step, he was brittle, and punching above his weight with idiot coaches.i wish him well, he's not in a good place

What have the organisations led by the pillars of society Roger Davis and Cameron de Clyne done to support Rob and his family?

I was going ask if there was ever a chance you might give it a rest. But there is not much chance of that is there.

I am sure that Cameron Clyne is to blame for Global Warming, the Dinosaurs dying and the extinction of the Dodo too. I bet its his fault I didnt win Lotto last night either.

So as it occurred in the U.K. it isn't de Clyne and Davis' cause to promote? Thank Christ that Alan Jones is back this week to make the bastard accountable. The bastard hasn't been seen since he ran his mouth announcing the laughable annual report.

Well done Cameron . By stopping Ex from winning the lottery last night you have imporoved the odds of me winning to about 1 : 177,177, 177 which roughly equates to the amount you and the RA board have contributed to Rugby Union since Ms Castle came on board!

All the best to Rob . I hope he will be as successful off the field as he was on it . To me he was always the X factor to turn a game both in a Tahs and Wallabies jersey . A pleasure to watch on the field ... so good to see the response in the UK . A great example to all Rugby Union .

I am sure I am wrong.

But has Rugby Australia ever got involved with raising funds for an injured player? That has always been done at a Club level, just like it is being done for Rob Horne. The real question should have been why hasnt the Waratahs done anything to support Rob Horne. But - its hard to attack Cameron Clyne if you ask that question.

Rugby Australia barely promote any Rugby in Australia. And have not done so in many years.

Its hard enough for FoxSports to promote Rugby on FoxSports. They will Promote Mungo Ball and the AFL 20 times an hour. But no promotion of Rugby.

The RFU had approached Northampton a few weeks ago about hosting a match at Twickenham prior to the AIs. They will also provide the club access to their suites.

That's the whole point, isn't it Ex?
ARU/RA behave as though promoting rugby is beneath them.

As far as ARU/RA are concerned, rugby is a grace and favour bestowed upon the North Shore and the Eastern Suburbs, and therefore does not need to be promoted, because the "right" sorts of people already know about rugby union from the schools which their kids attend.

Besides, if rugby union was to be promoted, say in the way that World Series Rugby is being promoted in WA, then the hoi polloi from the Shire and the Western Suburbs may start coming, which would be most undesirable since the SRU killed off rugby union in Penrith only a couple of months ago.

BTW, I am still waiting for Castle speak to really kick in; e.g. Rugby becomes a "product", rugby fans become "clients", administration of rugby at the national level is turned into a SIPOC model and the Six Sigma consultants are brought in.

ARU/RA stopped promoting Rugby a long time before Cameron Clyne got involved with Rugby.

    Is that point allowed?

That point is allowed, providing you acknowledge that a big part of the ARU rationale for cutting the force was to allow more funds to be directed at "grass roots". Is there any evidence that has occurred (assuming you don't count the Rebels as grass roots).

    Absolutely.

Clyne is just the latest manifestation of a culture of nepotism at the national level of rugby which may have been around since before the professional era began.

    Professional Rugby is a joke.

Rugby has been held back by Rugby Administrators that have no clue about Professionalism.

Rugby Australia desperately needs a Chairman and a CEO that has experience managing a sport in Australia.

Board members from AFL or Rugby League or even Basketball would be ideal.
