The relaunched Western Force step into the unknown tonight when they make their debut in World Series Rugby against Fiji Warriors at nib Stadium.
Coach Tim Sampson has had just six weeks to mould a side from former Force players and new faces from overseas and Australia to take on the powerful Fijians in front of a sell-out crowd. The game is the first in the series of seven that will all be broadcast live on 7TWO.
“Preparation has been chall-enging, it’s a little bit of an unknown how we are going to go, but there is a lot of excitement within the squad,” Sampson said.
“From the guys that were part of last year and with what unfolded, to the new guys that have joined the squad, there’s a really good buzz about the place.
“The challenge for us is controlling those emotions.”
