"Easy sell for flanker Chris Alcock to rejoin reborn Western Force
Nick Taylor | The West Australian
    Sunday, 4 March 2018 5:00AM

When former Western Force flanker Chris Alcock was asked to join the reborn club he didn’t have to think twice.

“It was an easy sell,” said the popular back-rower who made 30 appearances in “old” Force colours in four injury-marred years.

His journey has now come full circle after a season with the Brumbies and a spell with Japan’s Kamaishi Seawaves.

He is equally excited about his new two-year deal with Andrew Forrest’s radical Indo Pacific Rugby Championship club as he was by his first move to Perth from the Waratahs as then coach Michael Foley’s first signing.

The Force are planning games against international sides Fiji, Samoa and Tonga and Super Rugby clubs the Crusaders and Brumbies before the National Rugby Championship in September.

The focus will then switch to the IPRC that is due to kick-off in March next year."

Very happy to see a few more articles in The West and I expect there will be more as players start to arrive.
Really liked Chris when he was here before. Gave all on field and always had time for a chat.
All round good bloke and will be good for our new team.

Seems to be over his injury problems which is the most important thing.

That is a very solid article Wayne.
“. That was when a group of concerned citizens, most of them former Wallabies — not Papworth, although indications are he was involved up to his armpits — wrote a letter to ARU chairman Cameron Clyne that began: “Dear Cameron, we write as concerned servants of the game, with some educated observations, and more importantly some serious questions regarding the strategy of your board and executive ...”
One of those persons being Nick Farr Jones who initially stirred the pot. In retrospect wasn’t it Nick Farr Jones whom I heard rumoured to be initiating negotiations with Asian contacts for the IPRC after the fallout of the Force’s betrayal-which, it appears he & his buddies instigated? So what gives? A guilty conscience, or trying to inveigle himself into Twiggy’s setup since their own plan fell through? Beware Twiggy & Rugby WA-this lot along with Papworth are an ongoing menace!

Nick Farr Jones lost credibility with the Worboys (ex NSW Country CEO before he got involved with the NSWRU) and Jim Williams fiasco. He wasn't very good with the NSWRU anyway, his 1980s mindset didn't help.

Then Wayne follows it up with a back flip that makes it sound like he was told to apologise.

I wouldn't be surprised. Follow the money; who does he work for ... and who is stumping up the cash to use RA's 'product'?

The RA used to be brought to task when Campo wrote articles. They haven't brought Cheika to task in regards to his behaviour towards Michael Lynagh and at Twickenham.

Wayne is getting questions asked on Twitter.

So he should, in those last 2 articles he writes

"We all know, of course, that there isn’t going to be any $6m. The Force’s legal bill has cut deeply into it. That much we know. But we also know from the noises emanating from rugby HQ that other factors, so far unstated, have further eroded that figure."

    He focuses on The Force

"How was Australian rugby supposed to respond to this dire emergency? Yes, the ARU had warned many times that times were tough, but in a way it was like the boy who cried wolf. It had issued so many stark warnings before and yet on each occasion it had still bailed teams out of financial trouble. It even did it with the Force."

    He focuses on the Force

Its insulting to the other states that they are being spoon fed negativity of the Force whilst avoiding mentioning the names of other teams and the amounts they have been bailed out with.

The so called bail outs of the Force and Brumbies would be a tiny fraction of the Rebels' debt write offs. I doubt the Rebels got lawyers' letters stating pay up. They didn't even get a mention in Anthony French's 'review' despite costing the RA the most money. The scary thing is this chump still holds the same job and negotiating the IPRC.

I suspect that the six million includes more Rebels' debt wrote offs. We still don't know what those debt figures are.

I think it’s fairly obvious to every man & his dog that the $6mill has gone to the Rebels on top of everything else.

Be fair, that probably only accounts for about 10 to 20 million

I wouldn't be surprised to see that get wiped off. The shyster was technically insolvent and had to sell off TGIF at the same time.

Which will lead to a bailout from the RA and less money to the grassroots.

Seems funny how the dialogue fromWayne Smith, Brett McKay & a few others commenting on Twitter has now shifted to - the Force should combine with Eastern States teams for future rugby plans. Talk about jumping bandwagons! And the Force should really be grateful by being ‘readmitted’ to Super Rugby. Really gets up my nose!

Ive noticed that as well Val. On Gng rugby there's been the same suggestions as well. Is it a case of ohh shit we really need Twiggy's coin or we're doomed? When this sort of thing happened way back when with ARL/NRL there was 2 or 3 stars who broke away from the establishment to sign with superleague. Will be interesting to see who will have the nuts to break out from the other bunch of monkeys.
