BaaBaas together for one week play entertaining rugby put some good moves together even ball handling seemed better and would have won with a different ref. Wallabies together on and off fora month or so played crap seemed to have no idea with poor handling, scrums and line out all suspect. Time to get a coach who has the ability and has the power to select by ability and not post code.

Where was that? Ref ruined an entertaining game. Dog's put his hand up for the tour.

Wallabies v Barbarians: Injuries to Jack Dempsey and Lukhan Tui sour Australian win

THE Wallabies have escaped embarrassment by sneaking home against the Barbarians after Alan Jones’ side had two players controversially sin-binned in the final 10 minutes.

The BaaBaas incredibly led 28-24 in the 70th minute before referee Brendon Pickerill yellow-carded two-try winger Taqele Naiyaravoro for a deliberate knockdown and captain Quade Cooper for a high tackle on Israel Folau.

Both decisions were roundly jeered by the small crowd at Allianz Stadium, and allowed the Wallabies to expose the 13-man invitational side.
Replacement hooker Stephen Moore scored a try from a rolling maul in the 73rd minute, giving Australia a 31-28 lead which they held until full-time. But the victory may have come at extreme cost, with standout flanker Jack Dempsey hobbling off late with a leg injury, following lock Lukhan Tui who had limped off in the first half.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika will have an anxious wait on scans on the pair on Sunday, with his squad departing for the spring tour on Tuesday. Australia took an early lead when five-eighth Duncan Paia’aua stepped inside BaaBaas halfback Augstine Pulu off a scrum and crashed over the line in the ninth minute. But for the next half-hour it was all the Barbarians.

They had a try disallowed when Taniela Tupou’s ball-under-jumper trick from a rehearsed play was pulled up by Pickerill who told them: “You can’t intentionally put the ball inside someone’s jersey. It’s unsportsmanlike behaviour and I can’t allow it”. But the BaaBaas scored three tries in five minutes through hooker Andrew Ready, Naiyaravoro and Tom Banks to take an extraordinary 21-5 lead.

After the halftime siren, Wallabies winger Henry Speight managed to beat Eto Nabuli and Tim Nanai-Williams on the right edge to score a stellar individual try, bring the halftime score to 21-12. Jones urged his side to “finish them off” in the break, but it was the Wallabies who scored through Dempsey, who was outstanding in the lead-up and throughout the match. Paia’aua’s second try off a Curtis Rona break allowed Australia to take a 24-21 lead.

But some Cooper magic, via a cross-field chip in his own 22, unleashed Banks down the wing. The Brumbies speedster found Naiyaravoro back on the inside for the try of the game. But after the sin-binning of the giant winger and Cooper within two minutes they were long odds to hold on to their lead, much to the chagrin of the crowd.

Shame the ref was so one eyed he may have saved Jack Dempsey if he’d been sin binned for the two deliberate knock downs earlier in the Game!
If the Dog doesn’t go on tour then something is very crooked.

Benny Mac was outstanding for a man who has played so little rugby this year and will definitely tour, well done Ben
Shame about Dempsey's season ending injury he was coming on very well and to tear a hammy off the bone is a bugger of an injury for the young man, very sad.

Wow benny mac has come from nowhere, what a game. He had to tour now especially with no depth at 8 or second row. He should be getting picked ahead of Hannigan and definitely Douglas

Anyone got the full post match interviews from Alan Jones? Particularly the key ones where he unloads on the referee and the ARU.

Was a good game, hilarious ball under the jumper trick, but the ref ruined the match - and the Tahs/ref were well and truly booed at the final whistle. A few sprinklings of Force fans in the crowd cheering for ‘our’ boys. Had an interesting chat with an Angus who did one of the submissions, and who also mentioned he had met with Eales to talk about the saga over a beer. Eales says the Board weren’t given all/complete info on what was going on (duh!), Angus told him they have made all the wrong decisions but he said Eales just doesn’t get it. Quite few people said g’day to us & cheers to the Force!

Did you pay a visit to the NSWRU and ARU HQs across the road?
