Yes it SHOULD be cheaper. The Burswood bridge sections are from Malaysia, are a year behind schedule and $16 million over budget (IIRC). The Mandurah station bridge sections were built in China and were held up for 2 months while all the substandard welds were ground out and redone and a $4000 a day crane sat idle. My point is comparing the competence of the respective government departments. I'm 100% an advocate for local skills for local jobs.

Perth: $1.5 billion for an oversized craypot with a bridge to nowhere.
"no bridge to anywhere" isnt it? (until it's finished)

With the unions jumping on board this whole thing hinges on signing those "world class players" now.

Deep pockets, a willingness to use them to inflict pain on the ESRU and professional players.

I went to the 7s there in April. Loved it. Am rusted on for the IPRC games there already.

I'm not too fussed about this tbh. I mean, anyone who has watched the NRC & local rugby lately can attest that most of those games are far more exciting to watch than Super/Test Rugby.

Hell, our first season as a team was probably one of the most exciting seasons we've had in my opinion despite being rubbish.

Badger wasn't necessarily a world class player but if we had a team full of him it would be fantastic watching.

You can say the same about local club rugby in that case. I want this to be top level if at all possible.

TBH, my preferred model for any Twiggy comp would be a well funded local comp. Turn the WA clubs into English Premiership level funded sides and watch them grow.
