How Twiggy will run his rebel rugby comp

    Nick Taylor
    Wednesday, 13 September 2017 12:01AM

A number of Western Force players have agreed in principle to join the new breakaway Indo-Pacific Rugby Championships, planned to debut next year.
The West Australian has been told a group of players are prepared to join mining magnate Andrew Forrest’s competition, however the ARU’s willingness to allow Wallabies to play in the tournament could be a stumbling block.

Perhaps wallabies eligibility is not quite the draw we are led to believe. You only have to look at who has gone overseas to see that cash is king..
If ARU dont allow Wallabies eligibility then press on regardless.. may mean bumping up the payments but in time they wil have to concede once quality in IPC reaches a threshold.

Rugby World Cup isn't far away though and I'm sure that will be a draw card for Wallaby honours

Equally aru cant afford to lose quality players. Sign a few they'll have to concede

Agree. And I think that they would concede if there was just one specific name signed by the IPC...Adam Coleman.

I'm hoping common sense will prevail, given that it was the ARU that reduced the opportunities for players in WA, and the players will still be based in Australia. And if not I hope the Restraint of Trade aspects will be considered, perhaps by the Senate Inquiry.

I tend to agree with Alison, with the RWC coming up that's usually the time we see a few players who have gone overseas come back to Australia to have a crack at making the World Cup Squad so that may see some players stick to an official ARU competition if Twiggy's competition isn't endorsed by the ARU.

I totally agree with Steve that common sense should prevail as the ARU cant expect players to uproot their families to move over East after having taken their team away. It would the EARU's position in the Senate enquiry even worse....

I'm already pissed. Most likely spirit or force are no more.
