I would take it more as saying that at THAT TIME they could not cull any of the five teams in Oz. Until WA asked for assistance. Then they came up with the sucker punch strategy.

Other statements - which GIGS has pointed out - show that the grand alliance only lasted 5 weeks. In reality it never existed.

There wasn't an option to drop to four teams in Aus so they agreed to the addition of three more from SA, Arg and Jap instead? Yeah that sounds like typical ARU logic!

When was the decision to go to 18 taken by SANZAAR? Was it before July 2015?

They'd get it renovated and then finally be able to stage some of their SR games there.

I was only pointing out the public, undeniable, documented timeline. I'm totally convinced that the Alliance agreement was a loaded dice from the beginning.

As for Clyne's statements, I'd be keen for somebody with a more intimate knowledge of corporate law to ask the inquiry some pointed questions about the ARU's unreasonably optimistic annual reports in the face of this information that they knew damn well for 6 years that their business model was unsustainable.

Surely it's not legal to mislead your shareholders and stakeholders in such a way?

Totally agree Gigs, when Clyne/Pulver were announcing a profit in almost the same breath they were saying they had to cull a team because of financial problems. I thought Companies are legally obliged to show these potential probs in the reports?

    Nope.
Will be Brisbane city FC. But there is also bids for a team from ipswitch and one from the Sunshine Coast.
Given that the roar are moving their operation to ipswitch - they 'get' a team anyway. And the sunny coast has a stadium at kawana (wallabies use it for training before Brisbane games)
    So it'll be interesting.

    2018 memberships

My mates in the East tell me that they have started to receive 2018 membership renewal notices from their respective SR teams.

ARU is also in active discussions with its State and Territory Member Unions about opportunities to provide Rugby content in Western Australia from the 2018 season.
Can anyone tell me what "Rugby content" means in the above paragraph from the ARU statement dated 5 September?

The thing about Clyne is that you can always tell when he's lying.

Rugby Content means that the ARU want West Aussies to pay Foxtel for the privilege of watching a sport that no longer includes them. Foxtel then uses this money to pay for the broadcast rights. As far as future National competitions and development goes, well the ARU could not give less of stuff about us participating.
