Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

Southern Lions and Arks have applied to be admitted to the Premier Competition next year. RugbyWA are enthusiastically supporting their applications, so its a sure thing.

If we're going to expand the comp, I think at least three more teams should also be included, Rockingham, Mandurah and Curtin to form a local Super 15 competition, with a view to adding Kwinana, Swan and Perth Irish the season after.

A Super 18 competition run successfully from Perth will really show up the ARU and Sanzar if they cut the Western Force. With all their money, sponsorship and TV rights, they will be seen to have failed because they have had to cull teams, where RugbyWA has surged ahead with Clubs, team numbers and players, without wasting the millions blown by the ARU to achieve the same thing.

The established clubs could help get things going by allowing the new clubs each to second five of the Established Premier clubs' players (chosen by the new clubs on the basis of the positions they need filled) and a grant of say $50,000 to each new club from RugbyWA to help kick them off.

We are heading for exciting times in WA rugby.

Well, that's my view, and I can't see any downside. What do others think?

We've obviously had one of those massive record breaking registration years again. Maybe Big Rob has already started the process asking about the best players and their teams. Let's really stick it up SANZAR - the season after - as we'll all still be here for sure, we should offer the Kings, and the Cheetahs into the expanded comp, with the rallying cry 20 for 2020. Imagine that, a Rugby WA board with 85 sitting members, and admin/support staff of around 200, with our own legal team. We'll need more room - hell let's move back to Perry Lakes.

Wow if you're the cream of the crop of selectors at the lions you're going to have to work harder than that!

Here's my team (for what its worth)

    Front row:
    1. Mees Erasmus - Palmyra
    2. John Monk - Cottesloe
    3. Beau King - Kalamunda

    Locks:
Not sure on this one. Soaks probably have the best line-out but uni easily have the strongest scrum so i'll take their second row.

    Loosies:
    Kane Koteka - Wests
    Russell Burges - Kalamunda
    Dean Taylor Menzies - Soaks

    Halfback:
    Jack Weir - Kalamunda

    Fly Half:
    Te Fraser - Nedlands

    Centres:
    James Wepener - Joondalup
    Jordan Holgate - Kalamunda

    Wings:
    Nick Chadwick - Uni
    Michael Fotu - Palmyra

    Full Back:
    Jarome LT - Wests

Good call there, good folks the Weirs, as well. Kala must have been rubbing their eyes when a player of this quality walked in the door.
