British and Irish Lions Tour of NZ

It's starting to hot up over the dutch so thought I'd start a Lion's thread. Anyone travelling across? Gatland mind games started already. Two tests at Eden Park - All Blacks record there under threat? Lion's stats in NZ don't back that up.. but may be worth a punt.

Quiet a good BBC podcast previewing the tour here featuring Matt Dawson and Andrew Mehrtens

Agreed. It may be a crowd capacity thing but it does seem unusual to not spread the 3 tests out to different venues. Fortress Eden Park...

I believe it is purely a $ decision with Eden Park being their biggest stadium.

Eden Park being used twice will be a decision based on dollars, it's not like the AB's need the extra help given they will win 3-0.

Pretty solid Lions side, NH teams have been doing well, I expect this to be close. 1 - 1 going into the final test.

Hate to say it but i couldn't really care less about the Wallabies June Tests. Watching the Kiwis smash the Lions will be far more interesting. This will be one of the great rugby tours.

Eden Park was a fall back for the 1st test, originally was Christchurch but some further tectonic movement some time ago when planning was in full flow they moved it.
Some $$$ may have been involved and I think a decision was made a little too quickly.
I'd like to think that NZ requested it due their lack of confidence against a strong Lions so moved to so-called fortress.

This will be 83 all over again. Will get done in all tests and drop a few against provincial sides. Tough tough tour. Kev I'm guessing that is Winterbottom in your avatar, which tour was that.

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

Gigs it's like a Kiwi has picked on you and made your whole life a misery, time to move on and enjoy the rugby they play.
