    Here is a thought!

A thought - only tongue in cheek of course.

May the 5th aussie team can join a European comp like Eurovision!

Idea being they play their away games straight setting up a base in Europe from where to train.
They then return for to their home province to play European visiting sides. It would provide them with less travel costs maybe bigger coverage sponsorship wise and an extra dimension to any European comp with teams at club level challenging themselves to true international travel once a season or every second season depending on how their comp is formatted.

The aussie club who does this might be in an envious position as they maybe able to pay players at a higher level than in sanzar and as a whole travel a little less.

It's only a thought and probably has more holes in it than Swiss cheese, just trying to think outside the box! 😃

Thanks Tonkar - as I said it probably has quite a few holes in it. I just want to see a way out of eliminating a team even if it means finding new ways of viewing the problem. The ARU are short sighted and without a team in the respective states of WA and Vic the grassroots will die in those states at the very least be set back 20 years. At least trying to find new competitions may keep the grasssroots players open to having a desire to play for their state of origin initially. As I said before no expert grew up watching WAFL but there has to be a better solution than what crap the ARU have come up with.

    Last paragraph of rugby.com.au article.

"No Easy Path to Four Super Rugby Teams."

"We are only interested in dealing with the matter at hand of what is best for Australian rugby."

South Africa, set to drop two teams from the competition, is also yet to make a call on which teams those would be, but SA Rugby president Mark Alexander has indicated any axed teams would potentially move into Europe’s Pro12.

In a way SA already thinking it.

And the Brisbane Tens. Maybe we should be making room for the Euro Champions Cup trophy, looks like we're a shoo-in.

Yeah I get that, but with this one, all I see is holes.

I was very interested to hear Sinders say last night that he believes Aussie rugby can't sustain 5 teams.

That's a pretty big call when the ARU tossfest have your head already on the chopping block.

The "no contingency plan" if we do get the chop was a bit of a concern. I thought they or RugbyWA would be looking at further options for a pro or semi-pro team going forward, if we're out of Super Rugby and possibly the NRC.

As Sinders mentioned the players are also contracted to the ARU and they would need to pull them out of Oz rugby. Makes any backup plans difficult.
