    State Government rallies behind Force

    Anyone else see this?
I'm particularly interested in Mick Murray's comments

Premier Mark McGowan has pledged government support to save Western Force and ensure ongoing viability and long-term involvement in Super Rugby.
McGowan said he had confidence in the Force despite reports the ARU will axe the club if Super Rugby is reduced from an 18 to 15 club competition.
The ARU, SANZAAR and the Force have denied the report.
It is understood there is a clause in the alliance agreement signed by the Force and the ARU last year that commits both parties through the current broadcast deal that ends in 2020.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Mick Murray said the new Labor government was prepared to back RugbyWA if the agreement needed enforcing.
“We understand that RugbyWA and ARU have entered into an alliance agreement for the benefit of rugby in Western Australia,” Murray said.
“Whilst the terms of that alliance agreement have not been made known to the State Government, the State Government is prepared to support RugbyWA in the enforcement of any rights that necessarily arise under that agreement.”
In a letter sent to ARU chairman Cameron Clyne yesterday, McGowan said they would work closely with RugbyWA and the ARU.

Hopefully he will get a meeting with Sinderberry and no leaks get out of it afterwards....
Good to see our new government sending their support behind us.

Well, we lost Rally Australia and the Heineken Classic, the government should hope we don't lost the Force and the Wallaby tests that come with it.

Which is annoying, because I'd really love to go to the Bledisloe here in 2019.

I would...but it wouldn't be in Australia & I'd gladly buy the merchandise if whoever the Wallabies are playing!

as i said before - I LOVE rugby and will be continuing to play and watch the wallabies. If they play at NIB, i'll go, perhaps even the new stadium.

dunno if i could support another team though...

And nobody here will look down on you.

In fact I'm more likely to be looked down upon, but in reality, before the Force I was a part-time rugby watcher who wouldn't bother getting up for a Wallabies match late at night or that they were expected to lose. It's only fair that i I return to slightly less than that position.

Should the worst happen I would simply concentrate on my equal favorite sport - NRL. The money we'd save on Foxtel and Force membership would pay for a few trips to watch live Mungo matches. I'd simply get and NRL Digital pass for $100 a year and a foxsports.com.au subscription for $60 a year - all my magazine shows and match replays available online. I doubt I'd ever watch an Australian match again - unless the Perth Spirit somehow survived - even that would be doubtful. I think I'd still feel the sting of betrayal too keenly every time.

Who knows I might even find time to watch the occasional AFL match..........well it's at least possible.....isn't it?

my love came in the same year as the force, but mostly from playing rugby in a team. Prior to 2006 i knew nothing about rugby, other than the fact that i wanted to play it.

that love for the game has only strengthened.

I don't blame you and hope you carry on playing our great game. I though will follow Shastas lead even though I'm not an nrl fan that's the game I will follow and it's starting to feel that is going to be the outcome! There is just too much sh1t dribbling out of the ARU! IMO
