RugbyWA has is pleased to announce the structure of its 2016/2017 Alcohol.Think Again Summer Sevens Series, following the success of last year’s events with this Summer’s events set to be bigger and better than ever.

With a range of competitions catering to all ages and skill levels, this season’s Sevens series will continue to provide increasing excitement to the abridged form of the game following the success of Seven’s at the Olympics, in particular the gold medal winning Australian women.

This year’s Alcohol.Think Again Summer Sevens Series, includes:
•The Alcohol.Think Again Beach 5s at the iconic Cottesloe Beach on Saturday, 5 November 2016. Set on the backdrop of one of the most picturesque coastlines in Australia, this Sevens event will feature a strong festival atmosphere in addition to the hot Sevens action.
•The series also features the U17 Youth Sevens National Championship from McGillivray Oval on December 9 and 10 2016. This is the first time WA has held a national championship, and will see over 20 boys’ and girls’ teams competing for the title.
•After its debut season, the Alcohol.Think Again Jetty 7s returns and will be held on Saturday, 28 January 2017. It will feature four fields of non-stop Sevens entertainment from the best talent in WA.
•The inaugural Alcohol.Think Again Swan River Sevens will close out the Sevens season from the stunning Nedlands foreshore on Saturday, March 4 2017. It will provide a fitting transition and warm-up to the 15-a-side season, with the tournament to be staged during the club pre-season

With interest in Sevens continuing to thrive, RugbyWA’s Manager of Senior Competitions, Elite Pathways, Seven’s and Women’s Nicole Serafini said the summer of 2016-2017 is set up to be the most exciting season to date.

“The success of the Australian women at the Rio Olympics has sparked huge interest in the game and this could be the first chance for people to try their hand in the shortest form of the game,” she said.

“The events we have on through our Alcohol.Think Again Summer Sevens Series provide the perfect way for people to get involved no matter what age or experience.

“The Youth National Championship will see the next generation of Sevens stars on display, potentially some of the kids running around in December could be Olympians in Tokyo in 2020.

“We’re very excited about the Alcohol.Think Again Beach 5s at Cottesloe Beach, and Alcohol.Think Again Jetty 7s in Busselton after it’s huge success last year and the inaugural Swan River 7’s is going to be fantastic way to finish of the series.
