The usual Ruck Involvements stats from the Cheetahs game.

Remember:
1. Early means 1st or 2nd of player’s team AFTER the ball carrier has been tackled and brought to ground.
2. Impact means active engagement: strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, protecting ball etc. (more than hand on someone’s bum or arriving after the hard work has been done). Yes it’s subjective - but as I collect all data at least it’s consistent.
3. Impact DOES NOT equate to Effectiveness. I’ve concluded that coming up with an effectiveness measure is just too hard in the time that I have available – but open to suggestions.

Comments:

+ Big effort by Gus Cottrell. We haven't seen this work rate and involvement since Round 1 against the Rebels. He's been averaging 24 Total - 17 Attack/7 Defence. He actually lifted in the 2nd half and nearly matched the fresh bench players in the final 10 minutes. He also made 12 tackles/missed 3. I hope the Force is working hard to keep Cottrell in Perth.
+ Force only had 31% Possession in 1st half so some of our normal contributors were missing during this period. Scoble has been averaging 28 Total Ruck Involvements (TRIs) per game.
+ We missed Adam Coleman's work rates - He's been averaging 24 TRIs.
+ Great to see the increased involvement in the 2nd half.
+ Both Alcock and Stander well below their normal work rates.
+ Some impressive involvements from the bench players.
+ Missed Tackles: Team only tackled at 69% with 37 missed tackles.
Other Aussie teams were generally 84% - 88%.
Some notable big numbers: Alcock 13 made/5 missed; Scoble 12/5. Ross H-P 16/0 missed. Well done big guy!
Two excellent try-saving tackles by DHP and Prior.
+ Best Ruck Involvements by Backs:
Brache - 14 Total (10 Attack/4 Defence)
DHP - 9T (5A/4D)
Grant - 9T (8A/1D)
+ Kick on Goal:
Prior 3/4 - 75%. He's kicked 13/15 - 87% for the season to date.
Grant 2/4 - 50%. He's kicked 18/24 -75% for the season to date.
Both Lance (10/10) and Tapuai (3/3) are 100%.
+ Why don't our try scorers take to ball as close to the posts as possible? DHP had plenty of space to do so.
+ Dane Haylett Petty had 19 carries for 210m, 3 Clean Breaks, 9 Defenders Beaten, 2 Off Loads, 15 Passes, 12 Kicks.
+ Kyle Godwin played his best game for a long time - 14 carries for 77m, 3 Def Beaten. 9 Tackles

It was really only the 3 tries the Cheetahs scored at 22min, 29 min and 32 min which did the damage. 10 minutes!!

Great fight back in 2nd half.

Don't disagree but Gus Cottrell was the standout for Ruck Involvements - especially in the 1st half when the team was struggling a bit.

Chris earned 2 Turn Overs Won from his 8 Def Ruck Involvements which is a very good success rate.
He also had some good carries - 7 for 37m with 1 Clean Break and 6 Def Beaten. His m were the most by a Forward.

Others TOW were from:
Ross HP - 2 TOW from 4 DRIs
Dane HP - 2 TOW from 4 DRIs
1 TOW by Cottrell, Scoble and Masirewa.

Interested to know your background in coaching. I thought, in my humble opinion, he was the best player on the field. Not up to your standard in your playing day?

I agree he was best on ground, and scored a good try from running it back instead of kicking it, which has been his first option up until this weekend. But under foley he was probably playing under instruction to kick it.
You don't have to be a smart ass , especially with 'Reds' as your username!!

And the same argument is used to defend Shelton's involvement with the Wallabies. Whether it's stats or observations, quality is quality and crap is crap. Also known and Cotterell were both good, but it doesn't mean much when we still lose. There's only one stat which counts for the force in the next couple of years. Number of ws

Congratulations Dane Haylett-Petty for your special effort in the 2nd half against the Cheetahs and joining Matt Hodgson as non-SA winners of MOM against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

The Saffas don't give these awards to non-SA players lightly.

He was born is ZA so that probably in their eyes gets him over the line.

The mantle of an incumbent wallaby sits very well with DHP. Very impressed with his composure and consistency. Has the potential to be the next AAC and remain in the gold jumper for along time if this form continues. hope it does.

Hardwick was bloody fantastic!

Rasolea was shite! Looked like he didn't really want to be there or get his hands dirty. Some of their soft tries were due to his poor defensive spacing.

Our scrum greatly improved later in the game. Glad I stayed up for the second half...

Coleman broke a finger.. nail and due to the Force shorts not being the same quality as his ill fated Wallaby debacle, he decided to not get inner thigh chaffing and would sit this one out.

one run does not maketh a Wallaby - please... he was gun shy and missed two lineout take, which are his specialty. He looks good against the other Wallaby locks but then again, that's not saying much at the moment. Compare him to any of the other international locks, looking with both eyes open, and then say whether he is worth his salt... for me ... all hype and no substance, but that can be said of the Wallabies as a package right now.

Possibly a bit harsh as Coleman missed the first one due to a poor throw by Moore.

It was actually Fardy who missed the 2nd one.

For a debut 40 minutes - Coleman did OK.

In all fairness yes he is but its the equivalent of saying Guy Millar would be a standout at Wanneroo. Currently Australia has been so focused on the open running and free flowing plan that they have left the basics behind. A 2nd row, or LOCK, is supposed to lock the scrum and Australia seem bereft of anyone capable of doing this. Yes having 7ft people to leap at a lineout is great but as you say, compare these to Retallick, Etzbeth, Itoje, Kruse, Laws, Alwyn Jones, Toner (the list goes on) he has a long way to go and IMHO he can get to that level.
