That's also interesting timing. I would be pretty sure Queensland aren't interested, but south Africa and the force would be right up his alley.

Yes! Because the Force need another coach that can take excellent players and turn them into a completely shite team.

His major screw up was putting all his eggs in the Sam Burgess basket for the RWC. Not sure Andy Farrell did him any favours either.

That's actually the point I was making.

He'll be cheap, and IMHO that will be the key selection criterion if a new coach is appointed. So for that reason I ask (because I don't know anything about him outside the England job) is there any good coaching in his history. Surely he's done something good in order to get the England job, will it be a bargain basement improvement or was his England appointment a shock?

Also interesting that Lancaster paid a visit to the Force while he was doing a bit of a "tour" (job hunting) round a Aus a few months ago, also think he was in NZ

He had great success coaching junior rugby I think, which was part of the reason why he was appointed. I don't think he'd be a bad choice myself.

And I'm sure he'd know Sinderberry from the time when Sinders was at Saracens.

Don't know that Lancaster would put it out that there that'd he'd be interested in a super rugby gig if he thought he'd be laughed off the park.

He wants to be coach and leave all the other stuff to a director. well Foley wanted to be a director, until the rivers of gold dried up so he had to bat on as coach. Little chance Lancaster would end up at the Force.

TBH he has had success at the junior level. I'd be interested to see if he could get all the new QLD faces firing and playing as a team.

    Well I'm not laughing.
I mean he obviously did a great job coaching england in the last world cup.
and he managed to get england to 2nd in the six nations 4 years in a row.

If we are going to get a new coach can we at least pick someone better than Foley?

and I think that's the essence of my question. Is he better than Foley? There's no question in my mind that it likely, you don't get appointed to coach England off nothing, but the World Cup failure will taint him massively. Ergo his price will be rock bottom for a coach at that level and, you never know, he might be the Cliffy Palu of coaches (for me to explain that, Cliff Palu is a very good rugby player at Super Rugby level, looks like the complete package and doesn't usually shirk the hard work, but put him in a Wallabies jersey and he's baggage)

If all of that adds up, he might actually be a solution to the problems......but it won't happen unless we can find some money to either
A keep Foley as a scrum coach or coaching director etc
B pay Foley out and restructure the entire coaching team

To contemplate bringing a northern hemisphere coach into super rugby with no experience of the Australian style of rugby would be a very poor decision. Our styles of play are miles apart especially at super rugby level.
