Why we will beat the All Blacks in the RWC Final

    • New Zealand have never won a world cup away from home
    • Australia have won both their trophies a long long way from home
    • This world cup - Australia have played all their matches at Twickenham - New Zealand one match
    • Scott Damn Fardy!
    • I dont think Australia have peaked yet. and I think New Zealand peaked with France

At the Rugby World Cup Final next week….
Bluey from Cootamundra has travelled overseas for the first time to see his beloved Wallabies take on the All Blacks in the RWC Final.
He has grabbed some hot chips and paid an exorbitant price and goes to find his seat ready for the game.
Just as he sits down 2 New Zealand guys sit down at their seats right next to him.
Bluey, being a friendly fellow says Hi and tells them about his first overseas trip and how excited he is to be there.
Then he says “guys, I am going to get a beer, would you like one too?”
“Yeah, cheers bro, that would be great!”
So Bluey says “great, can you just hold onto my chips and I will be back in a jiff”
When Bluey has gone the Kiwi boys have a chuckle about the big country bumpkin and start to giggle about playing a trick on the Aussie. One Kiwi hawks up a big gob and spits right on top of Blueys chips.
On his return, Bluey hands the Kiwis a beer each, they hand him back his chips and they all have a drink….then Bluey looks down at his chips.
Bluey starts shaking his head while the Kiwis start drinking their beers faster knowing that the trick has been discovered!
Then Bluey says “This has got to stop!”
“Our nations are great nations, our forebears spilled blood together on the beaches of Gallipoli and every major conflict since. We have battled each other in Rugby tests over 150 times and competed in good sportsmanship and fellowship. We are brothers in arms and brothers in sport. But this has to stop. Why are we supporters to antagonistic to each other, we should embrace our similarities and celebrate this great game of Rugby that has bought us together…..but this…this has to stop!”
By this time the Kiwis boys are starting to feel really bad and all they can do is hold their head down and quietly drink their beers.
But Bluey goes on “yes, this must stop now, this , this , this spitting in the chips, the pissing in the beers!”

1999 World Cup final was played at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff not at Twickenham.

For the superstitious All Blacks fan, the fact Sunday's World Cup final against Australia will be played on Halloween is not a good omen.

Hours after closing the door on the last of those trick-or-treaters, New Zealanders will tune in to the live broadcast from Twickenham, hoping the All Blacks can shrug off some spooky history associated with October 31.

Historically, the All Blacks have not played well on Halloween, and some of their most inglorious and famous defeats have fallen on this day.

They have never played at home on Halloween, but end-of-season tours and the World Cup have seen them take the field on several occasions when playing in the Northern Hemisphere.

Things started well enough on October 31, 1935, when the so-called "Third All Blacks", as the UK press dubbed them, accounted for Newport 17-5.

The 1953 All Blacks comfortably made it two from two on Halloween when they defeated England's Southern Counties 24-0.

But in 1972 it all turned sour for Ian Kirkpatrick's tourists, when they were upended 9-3 by Llanelli, at Stradey Park.

The Scarlets remain the last Welsh side to beat the All Blacks.

Skip forward six years to 1978, and All Blacks misery continued when a capacity crowd of 12,000 packed into Thomond Park, Limerick, to witness Munster prevail 12-0.

After the game, All Blacks wing Stu Wilson quipped, "We were lucky to get nil."

In more recent times, one of the All Blacks' most extraordinary and painful defeats came in the 43-31 semifinal loss to France at the 1999 World Cup. The John Hart-coached side had led 24-10 early in the second half before imploding.

There are two more losses that can also be considered unlucky Halloween defeats. On October 30, 1963, the All Blacks fell 3-0 to Newport in Wales. The match, of course, took place in the early Halloween hours in New Zealand.

You could be forgiven for forgetting October 30, 1990 (October 31, NZT), as well.

Captained by Mike Brewer, the All Blacks went down 18-12 to a south-west French composite side known as Cote Basque-Landes in Bayonne, sunk by the boot of Dax's Thierry Lacroix. Rest assured the All Blacks who played that day will not have forgotten the occasion.

This world cup - Australia have played all their matches at Twickenham - New Zealand one match

Err - except Fiji at the Millenium and Samoa at Villa Park.
    But we'll still win.
