    Moore named new Wallabies captain

    AAP
    July 6, 2015, 12:01 pm

Stephen Moore will lead the Wallabies to the World Cup after the veteran was announced as the Australian captain on Monday.

Hooker Moore, 32, receives the nod ahead of incumbent skipper Michael Hooper, who has been named vice-captain along with Adam Ashley-Cooper going into the 2015 international season which culminates with the World Cup in England and Wales.

The appointment comes a year after Moore was originally given the honour, only for a serious knee injury to strike him down one minute into his debut Test as skipper against France in Brisbane, ruling him out for the rest of 2014.

Adam two dads is a blithering idiot, Hooper makes a blithering idiot look like Shroedinger Einstein cross.
This says it all for Australian Rugby at the moment.
The only thing I can say is at all good about this is that Moore is captain.
I hope like hell he stays healthy.

First time Guiteau opens his mouth on the field Moore should tell him to shut the f$ck up.

Very happy with Moore as captain. Hooper would have been ridiculous given Pocock's form. No idea about AAC as I don't think I've ever seen him in a captaincy role.

Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Moore's average game in the latter half of the SXV was 66 minutes - with only 2 games >70 mins (71 & 74).
In Tests Moor is likely to be pulled at 60 minutes.

Obviously it would be preferable to have the captain on the pitch for the full 80 minutes.

In tight tests, leadership in the last 20 minutes can be critical.

I reckon that neither Hooper nor AAC have what it takes to inspire the team in the crunch.

I have no solution to this problem.

For this reason I am thinking (and hoping) that he might be planning on starting Pocock and using Hooper off the bench. This way if Moore goes off after 60 minutes then a vice captain in Hooper will definitely be on the field at this time.

I guess they needed a vice captain in the backs as well and no one else is really putting their hand up. The only guaranteed selections in the backs are probably Folau and Kurindrani and they don't seem like captaincy material.

Good decision on Moore IMO, also won't mid if they interchange Poey and Hooper in the early games - Hooper's run in the last 30mins could be decisive.

Sanity has prevailed with the captaincy. My choice of VC would have been Pocock. I'd definitely have him in the 7 shirt - for the whole 80 minutes.

As best as I can recollect

Before gits left he was captaining the nags. In an end of the year game against the Reds with the nags leading by less then 7 he decided to take a penalty kick against the Reds that would put them out by more then 7, that sunk the Reds season at the death of the game. Moore wanted to kick for the side win the game but let the Reds have a bonus point for losing by less then 7. When challenged by Moore gits told him to F@&$ off and that he was captain.

Too busy undoing the chains from the goal posts in protest.

It get that. He will never made Captain because of his loose cannon potential. But as VC when Moore is subbed he'd be my choice as the best option at the end of tight matches with AAC taking leadership of the back line.

No way is Pocock a loose cannon, he takes careful, measured decisions and has more brains than the rest put together
