How to get your Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets

    AFP and Network Writers
    September 12, 2014 3:27AM

TICKETS for next year’s Rugby World Cup in England will go on sale on Friday, with those for popular matches to be distributed via ballot.

Prices for adults start at 15 pounds ($26) — seven pounds for children — and rise to 715 pounds for the best seats for the final at Twickenham on October 31, 2015.

The average ticket costs around 100 pounds.

“We have worked hard to create as many low-priced tickets as we can and prices start at seven for children and 15 for adults,” said a spokeswoman from England Rugby 2015.

“Over half a million tickets will cost 50 or less, but it is a balance as ticketing revenue is our only revenue stream to fund the tournament.”

A ‘traffic light’ indicator on the ticket website — www.tickets.rugbyworldcup.com — will highlight the matches that are receiving the most applications and are likely to go to a ballot.

“This is an exciting moment as up to one million tickets go on sale for Rugby World Cup 2015,” said Debbie Jevans, chief executive of England Rugby 2015.

“Fans have 17 days to apply, so there is no rush and they should take time to consider what they would like to purchase.”

Rugby World Cup chairman Bernard Lapasset added: “Our objective is to ensure that fans have a great time and therefore we urge all fans to be vigilant and check that they are buying from official channels, as we are very much aware that unofficial sources will attempt to exploit supporters.”

London (AFP) - Some supporters had to wait for up to an hour online when tickets for next year's Rugby World Cup in England went on general sale on Friday.

However, England Rugby 2015 chief executive Debbie Jevans insisted the computer system had worked well but that demand was "high" with up to 50,000 people waiting in a queue.

Officials reminded fans that they could wait to submit their application until the sales window closes on September 29 because tickets will be distributed via a ballot rather than on a first-come-first-served basis.

"Applications have gone really well. The queue time was about an hour, which is what we anticipated. There's been good enthusiasm," Jevans said.

"We were able to have thousands of people on the site at the same time and it's been going well.

"People are applying for tickets across all 48 matches and that's what made me really pleased.

"At one point there were over 50,000 waiting in a queue, so that's pretty good and there haven't been any technological issues."

Meanwhile Jevans warned fans not to buy tickets from unauthorised secondary websites which in some cases were advertising tickets for more than 10 times their value.

One site was even offering a ticket for the final at £8,870 ($14,428, 11,130 euros) when the most expensive official price is £715.

"We don't know if that ticket exists," said Jevans.

"I am passionate that we have our tickets at face value and getting to fans. I don't like seeing tickets as commodities, I want to see them getting into the hands of people who want to watch the event."

Over-subscribed games will be decided via a ballot after the sales window shuts on September 29.

Prices for adults range from £15 for low-profile group games up to £715 for the most expensive seat for the final at Twickenham.

Why don't they then keep a list of the 'failed' ballot people, and if people legitimately need to return tickets, then pass them down the line for official prices... That way, scalp tickets won't hold any value, as the ticket may have been cancelled and re-issued.
All I know, is my ballot better come good!

Just went online to look at buying tickets for RWC 2015, the prices are a rip off! For example Eng v Aus at Twickers Cat A tickets are 315 British Pounds, B are 215, C are 160 and D are 75. Wales V Aust are slightly cheaper with Cat A 250 down to Cat D at 50. SA v USA are a "bargain" at 85 pounds for a Cat Adown to 20 for a cat D at Olympic Stadium. NZ v Tonga at St James Park are 150 down to 50 for Cat D tickets. Might have to settle for a pub over there or a rellies lounge room!

I don't think my wallet could stand an assault like that!

All the packages via flight centre I've seen only have Category D tickets. Does anyone know if they sell packages with a higher class of ticket?

    anyone had any news!?
We put in for the ballot flipping ages ago, and the only info I can find is "the ballot results will be announced in October"
October is fast running out people!!!
To add to confusion, I cant seem to log into my account to check it all went smoothly with the application process, since the log in page just has the same statement "ballot results will be announced in October"

Anyone else (who used the ballot) got any form of information yet?
