    Information required

Does anyone have any information about Raspberry Pi.

No, its not a typo nor is it a dessert.

Specifically I am looking at creating a Media Server and using the Raspberry Pi's as a Control unit for the TVs that they are connected too.

I use it too, bloody awesome set up for an outlay of around a hundred bucks.

Make sure you get a good remote though, it can be a bit of a pain if you get the wrong one.

I have a Amazon TV with xbmc installed, and play media off of a computer. Bit more setting up, and not really for novices. But when done it just works. About $100 all told.

I would have thought the rasplex uses plex as its player?

Raspberry Pi is a Computer the size of a pack of Cigarettes. With a HDMI output Port - a SD Card as memory and 2 USB ports - it was designed to teach High school and University Students about basic computer programing and designing.

    It has multiple uses.

Depending on the size of the SD-Card and case you can buy them on ebay from $40 - $100

XBMC is a computer software based on Linux specifically designed for Multi-Media.

I am learning about this stuff at TAFE at the moment - I am no expert. Darren, BnB and Gigs are way above my level.

I hope that they will correct me if I am wrong

I find that bicarbonate of soda works best. Simply sprinkle it over the odour-affected area and leave it for a good day or two. After this time has elapsed, simply sweep up the powder, vacuum the excess, and your odour problem should be gone!

No, Plex is the server, rasplex makes use of, and extends the xbmc and openelec code to create a player which is (essentially) a port of xbmc specifically designed to be easy to connect to a Plex server.

The beauty of running Plex is it's multi-platform ability, there are clients for just about everything that has a screen, even some smart tvs have dedicated Plex clients written for them.

Actually, that's a thought, Ex, you should check and see if that's an option, if your tv connects to the Ethernet, it might be better to run a native client.

While you tech geeks are on a roll can someone tell me why our wifi/airport causes interference on Samsung Smart tv-doesn't seem very smart. Every time we use MacBook or iPad, there's static on all local channels through Foxtel.

Fair enough. I have none of those fandagled TV's. But i also do not have a server capable of doign the transcoding on the fly ( i have attempted it!). and so far, the performance i have had out of XBMC and a plain fileserver has been much better than what i had from plex.

I also like the amazon fire tv. small, powerful, cheap and neat - it is built to do what it does.
