Carlin Isles is faster than Usain Bolt, hopes to lead US rugby team to Olympics

CARLIN Isles is one extraordinary human.

More explosive than Usain Bolt, the American can also jump higher than most NBA players.

With these phenomenal athletic traits, it’s no surprise Isles is eyeing an Olympic berth.

But here comes the weird part.

Isles wants to get the 2016 Games via rugby. Not track. And, like we said, he’s an American, and the US is not exactly renowned as rugby nation.

In an impressive new video released by HSBC, which you can watch above, Isles’ power and speed is broken down.

    His numbers are astounding.

Isles is quicker than the world’s fastest man over 20 yards, clocking 2.67 seconds to Bolt’s 2.89 seconds.

At last year’s NFL scouting combine — in which college football players undergo a series of physical and mental tests — Isles set the fastest time out of anyone: 4.22 seconds.

Isles’ one-leg vertical leap is also an incredible 1.06m, which would rank him in the top 10 all time for NBA players.

For a comparison, Michael Jordan’s vertical leap of 1.22m is the best on record for an NBA player, but Isles’ effort is considerably better than Lakers star Kobe Bryant’s 96.5cm.

Last year, Isles was signed by the Detroit Lions but later cut by the NFL team, turning to rugby full-time.

At 1.73m-tall and 75kg, Isles is slight for a rugby player.

But his lightning speed, step and agility make him ideal for Rugby Sevens, where he has freedom to roam.
