Hmmmmm a verbal agreement from Genia should never be trusted!!
"Will Genia is reportedly going cold on the idea of joining Bath and is instead looking at the Top 14.
Reports in Monday's Midi Olympique say Genia had given a verbal agreement to agree to join Bath and some news outlets in Australia said the deal had been done but fresh reports say Genia is keen to pursue options in the Top 14.
Genia's contract will expire after the 2015 Rugby World Cup and is expected to leave Australia for pastures new. Stade Francais have reportedly made an offer for Genia's services as they look to replace their two ageing scrum-halves - Julien Dupuy, 30, and Jerome Fillol, 36. The French rugby weekly also says usual suspects Toulon and Toulouse could be interested in entering the bidding war."

Verbal agreements aren't exactly binding...
Legally no; morally yes. He shouldn't give any sort of agreement or indication he's going to agree if he's not going to follow through. It's a very low act to gazump anyone in any setting imo. But maybe I'm just old fashioned in thinking a man's word is his bond.
Professional sport is a cut throat industry and unless your signature is on the contract it's worthless. It might annoy me but I don't begrudge players looking for the best deal for themselves given the lifespan of sporting career.
My concern is how is the ARU going to address the potential player drain after the next World Cup.
Leopards do not change their spots, he seems to be a master at this. I hope that the French are going to have a more stirring team song to sing!
We scrum for posession, run for the try zone, bleed for the team and live for the game
not only from Australia
WALLABIES halfback Will Genia will reportedly join the exodus of Australian players following the Rugby World Cup.
The 58-Test No. 9 is believed to have signed a three-year deal with French club Stade Francais and will leave Australia after the 2015 tournament.
The Queenslander was thought to have signed a pre-contract with English club Bath but that fell through due to salary cap restrictions.
According to French newspaper Midi Olympique Genia has now signed a three-year deal with the powerful Paris club.

Genia, who debuted with the Reds in 2007, has spoken of his desire to lessen his travel.
He welcomed his first child, a baby girl, last week.
If the move is confirmed, Genia will join fellow Wallabies James Horwill (Harlequins), Adam Ashley-Cooper (Bordeaux-Begles), Scott Higginbotham (Japan), Sekope Kepu (Bordeaux-Begles) and Nic White (Montpellier) in playing overseas.

I would wait until he takes the field before getting my hopes up

just before its official, he'll chuck the baby out with the Bath water and renege, citing he likes to sing the Reds team song with his mates in the shower
The long sobs of autumn's violins wound my heart with a monotonous languor
If he can regain some form, I still think he's the best 9 going around in Australia. Well the best one who is not and All Black, anyway. at 27 he's a big loss IMO.

Seeing as the ARU won't select Aussies who aren't plying their trade in Au this mass exodus after the WC goes to show that the $ is stronger than patriots.
IMO if they have already signed and are going don't play them! Let's use those that want to stay! No we won't win the WC but we will have a load of fighters who won't have clauses written into their up coming contracts re injuries etc.
If they are going "drop them".
May the FORCE be with you!
