I thought, since we were in the top six, we might get some decent refs.

    Isn't that the policy now?

We may be in the top six, but the oppo is not. Therefore the higher-ranked refs would not likely be appointed.
You'd expect (well, I'd expect) that the Brumbies v Sharks match would get the highest ranked ref. That Glen Jackson is appointed to that match is a surprise to me.
Joubert getting Bulls v Stormers is also a surprise.
The Hoff getting Crusaders v Sharks also be a surprise to me.

It is interesting, though, that the appointments this week and next do not always appoint a local from the country where the fixture is being played.

Chris Pollock is good news. He is a New Zealand ref and therefore likely to referee to New Zealand style of play- which is more likely to be similar to Australian style of play. I reckon he is also going to be less likely to make monumentally shit decisions that favour the home side as we saw earlier in the season.

Yeah, but id still prefer the experience of Marius Jonker.

It's not like hes busy with other things that day, and he's less of a hometown ref than Joubert

The refs are so bad we might as well get Pete van Zyl out of the crowd. If you have an attacking feed 15 m from the tryline, of course we would deliberately collapse a scrum and concede a penalty...perhaps my favourite sin of the pea blower.I also enjoy the scrum being reset as the 9 passes to the 10 from the back of the scrum. I also enjoy how they talk to the players as if they are school teachers. The less media coverage these belters get the better the game will be. The fans should vote on the way out to determine whether the ref gets paid. You want the fans back to rugby...ask rex
