There is the small matter of remuneration, of course. As one of the highest paid Australian players at the time of his departure, it is difficult to imagine O'Connor coming home for a few free chicken dinners at Club Burwood each week.
Maybe some humble pie instead ?

No. He will bargain for extra's, like free gravy with his free chicken dinners.

Have to think if he came back to oz he would end up at the Reds with the shambles, particularly their backline, is at the moment and JOC's family ties up there.

Plus he could have his own booth at the Hungry Jack's on Cavill Ave. All his needs can be catered for in QLD.

Deans is also being touted to replaced RG there next season, expect JOC at 10 and QC 10 for the Rebels .

Bugger JOC. If they are after real back line talent they should throw some third party money at Karmichael Hunt. Dunno if the ARU are willing to throw money they haven't got Queenslands way. Seems only NSW get that leg-up. But he would be a great get for them. Or anyone. The Bronx and the Titans are already starting bidding war apparently.

The ARU have bailed out QRU more than the captain of the titanic. They will throw money there if they think it'll work, they just need to be a little less obvious, since there are not as many QRU board members as there are NSW.

ARU managed the Reds for the last couple of years, coincidentally the years where they sniped Dick and Paid out Genia to make him renege on the handshake. They're not adverse to spending cash under the table!

the ARU dont manage the Reds they did bail them out on 2009-10 but they don't control the board or the decisions that are made unlike now with the Rebels who they are bank rolling. The Reds just posted a 1m profit for the year 2013.

Not sure they offered him more money, they simply manipulated and subverted the contracting process to place undue pressure on Genia, the pressure of which he succumbed to. We did much less and were fined. The reds triumph their underhanded tactics to their fans and the ARU does nothing. We got the better deal out of that anyway because we ended up with Mathewson. Karma.

I would love the Reds to sign JOC, if only to stop people talking about the Force as his last Australian gig. We're guilty by association at the moment. JOC is negatively effecting our brand .

Anybody who believes Gnia didn't walk away from that meeting with a brown paper bag full of cash is naive.

Queenslanders don't take brown paper bags full of cash. They just find them in their office drawers. With no idea who put them there. Whereas in NSW they just award themselves coal mining and water use permits.
