I simply don't think a 30 year old outside back who can't nail a start in an underperformed blues team would be worth the money he would be commanding. Offer him 75k a year and see how he takes to the challenge.

Got no bias in this. I actually think he's not as good a RL player as people thought. Coaches learned how to defend him more consistently. But he still has moments of brilliance - at League. As far as his tilt at Rugby. I think he went for the challenge because he simply could never attract the type of money in Auckland as he can at the other two or three choices he could have made. Logic. He also walked away from a lucrative TV deal he had with Channel 9 and the Footy Show. For what if not to see if he could make a go of Rugby in NZ?
