England were a step up from our guys. I thought we had a chance but we were dominated. We also seemed , to me, that we didn't have a captain, to relieve some of the refs judgments. Not that that should or would have changed the result.
As for the way the baby boks dominated the ab's "wow". There is a team of the future, if they are ever allowed to play together!

Burton into starting XV for clash with Italy

The Australian Under 20s side to tackle Italy in their final pool match of the IRB Junior World Championship has been named with Ross Haylett-Petty and Brad Lacey retaining their positions and Luke Burton elevated to the starting XV.

The Australians need to defeat Italy to secure a good seeding for the finals of the tournament.

After being defeated by England 38-24, the match against Italy has become a must win for the side.

Australian Under 20s Head Coach Adrian Thompson is confident his team will overcome the Italians.

“There are no easy matches in this tournament and we will have to be wary of Italy after they beat Argentina 29-26.”

“We had a good hard look at what we did wrong after our match against England and I know the guys have been really keen to rectify where they went astray in that match.”

Bonus point try just scored by 5 Jack Payne, Luke Burton missies first kick for the day off the upright so has 4 from 5.

    Score is 29 - 3 - 54 minutes gone

I think a win's not going to be enough. It's a bit like the Women's World Cup where there are 3 groups of 4. The three group winners and the best placed 2nd place go into the top 4 to play the semi-finals. The three bottom teams and the worst 3rd place go into playoffs for 9th-12th, and the other 4 teams play for 5th-8th.

Ireland have already beaten Fiji and qualified for the semi-finals; France will go through if they win or draw against Wales. If they lose by less than 7 points then Australia will have to beat Italy by about 33 points and hope that New Zealand don't beat Scotland (the tournament whipping boys) by 22 points fewer than our winning margin (ie, if we win by 40, New Zealand have to win by less than 18).

I reckon we'll be playing for 5th-8th along with New Zealand, Wales and Samoa.

    We've won 29-3, I think.

Mind you, Wales are currently beating France by 10 (13-3 according to Planet Rugby) so we might only need New Zealand to not beat the Scots by more than 3.+

    Come on the Scots!

[+ Or Samoa beat South Africa by 35 - unlikely!]
