Force aim for rare back-to-back Super wins

    The West Australian

Two straight wins. It doesn't sound like much, but for the Western Force, it would mean big things.

The Force haven't strung together consecutive Super Rugby wins since beating the Brumbies and Bulls in April 2011.

But they have the chance to snap that barren run when they take on the Highlanders in Dunedin on Saturday night.

The Force were ruthless in last week's 32-7 win over the Melbourne Rebels, scoring four tries inside the opening 27 minutes to secure the bonus-point victory.

Force flanker Ben McCalman says the team are desperate to make another fast start and silence the home crowd at the indoor Forsyth Barr Stadium.

"The Force has been a side in the past which has been able to get the odd win against a big team, and then lose a few," McCalman said.

"Our focus is to get the two wins in a row.

"We've put everything into this week, to get the quick start again and continue the dominance we had in the first 20 minutes from last weekend."

The Force have won five straight games against the Highlanders, but the New Zealand outfit will enter the match fresh following last week's bye.

The Highlanders started their year with a 29-21 win over the Blues, before losing to the Chiefs 21-19.

The Force were walloped by the Waratahs and Brumbies in their opening two rounds, but are bristling with confidence following the win over the Rebels.

Can't remember 2011 when we last won back to back, it was an age away.

We have a decent record against the Highlanders, fingers crossed.

They know that we would want to start like a raging inferno, expect the first 20 to be carnage. Just hope the ref doesn't turn it into a penalty fest to take the enthusiasm out of the game.

Unlike last year, the Highlanders have had a strong start to the season. May be worth a wager, currently Highlanders 1.28 Force 3.75

Godwin to put in some big hits on former Force boy Winston Stanley early on.

If Winnie's starting, i think I can find the hole in their backline.

Junior needs to run it straight and hard looking for the offload like last week.

Don't they aim for back to back wins after every win? It isn't really a headline to state that a team is aiming to win their next match, even if it is the , is it?

Surely they'd be taking one game at a time, not thinking too far ahead, not even looking at finals rugby yet, looking for the boys to play for each other, blah blah blah

No way.... Let's win every game. Total domination is what we should aim for, not just winning this week! Or am I getting to far ahead of my self?
