James O'Connor has signed a three-year deal with Toulon

James O'Connor has signed a three-year deal with Toulon according to Midi Olympique.

The French rugby newspaper says a clause has been written into his contract that will allow him to return to Australia in 2015 to play Super Rugby and push for a place in the Wallabies' World Cup squad. He would then return to Toulon after the World Cup.

O'Connor is current playing for London Irish, who he joined after not being offered a contract by any of Australia's Super Rugby sides.

But do we want him to play for the Force just to enable him to be eligible for the world cup? I'm not sire personally!

No loyalty shown to the Rebels and London Irish, who BOTH gave him a go when no-one else wanted him.

IF this is true which super team would take him on for one season? They certainly wouldn't (shouldn't) be paying him big bucks. IMO
Think this will have burnt all bridges back to Au.

Typically selfish and arrogant of him to assume that any S15 club would take him just so he can represent Aus at the RWC.

JOC needs to learn that no-one is indispensable in this world. He also needs to learn that the world does not revolve around him.

Assuming this is true (and it sounds fairly typical, so I am)

I'm done here. I am usually pretty forgiving, and hope for the best from people, but the force (and any other team) would be insane to take him on for a single season and then have him run back to France after the World Cup.

Toulon would be the best place for him, he can learn arrogance and ineffectuality from Gits

Force won't sign him under these circumstances, it goes against everything they and the players were saying back when the talk of signing him was at its peak before the airport incident...

ARU would be mugs to let it even happen

yep, with it known that he will be returning to france after the world cup, why would they ever include him in the squad, even if he got a S15 contract.

Maybe I'm jaded by how many false articles have been written on the topic, but I can't find any other reference to this - remember he was supposed to have signed with Toulon two months ago and that turned out not to have happened.

I'm gonna wait until I read some confirmation before I decide to go and get my broom...

I hope that this article is not true because if it is this will become the case study for the "I" generation when our future great great grandchildren learn about gen Y in their studies of history.

If he goes this route both his management and himself and any other tag along advisers have sold their morality for the bounty.

As a previous, up until now, staunch supporter of JOC, believing he was young kid being misinformed by his management, and his talent would bring him round to seeing things for the greater good I can only say I am bitterly disappointment and cannot believe how many times I give him the benefit of the doubt as I believe in the greater good of people.

    I am gobsmacked and dissapointed
