    Number them the same

If you have 8 candidates number both Labor and Liberal candiates as a 7 and your vote won't count past your 6th preference

I don't think it'll count at all if you number two the same!

It does so long as you don't number two boxes with "1"

Political and Legal studies was one of the few things I paid attention to in high school

Ralto, you're the only person I know who would describe Clive Palmer as 'complicated'

Proportional representation is too simple because the commoners can unsterstand it. Even though it works.

So lets make it complicated so none know what is happening.

I think you give the majority of Australian voters far more credit than they deserve.

Most people I have contact with seem to think they're electing KRudd or Tony Abbott.......many donn't even know the name of the person they will actually vote for!

(on that note, I live in Brand, where voting Labour is genetic, so most probably don't care who the local candidate is)

It's hard not to fall into that trap though as they are the only people you ever hear or see or read anything about! I have not had a single letter, leaflet, email or anything from my local ALP candidate - I don't even know if it's a he or a she!

Might depend on the seat you live in

I live in Hasluck which is one of the most marginal seats in Australia and there has been a never ending flow of propaganda from both sides

Yeah, well only those living in marginal seats have votes that count so don't waste money on the rest...

Yeah could be - been Lib since 2004, with a 5.6% margin in 2010 election, but the demography is rapidly changing. Thought the ALP could do a leaflet drop at least?!
