Seeing that incident without Golden Specs it definitely deserved a yellow...it was after the whistle (I don't believe for one second that he didn't hear it) and it went past horizontal and he drove Habana into the turf.

Cooper very luck that SA scored but may have some explaining to do to the citing commissioner.

Eddie McGuire is a massive flog

Has he heard of the saying one week at a time?

Not really. His legs went past the horizontal. Even if it was only a wee bit. Rules are rules. It was a bloody good tackle
But Hababa leant backwards in the tackle.
It is what it is. If that had happened to one of our boys we'd be all up in arms about it

Going past the horizontal is a penalty every day of the week. Cards and suspensions are for dangerous tackles where there is a dropping or driving action that puts the player at risk of neck/head injury. That was clearly NOT the case.

BTW; is it IRB policy that the referee is now the on-field TMO?

Legs past horizontal is YC. If shoulders or head makes contact with ground first then RC. Hooper was a lot closer to a RC than most realise!

i think that was Habana twisting and looking for the ground IMO. he should have just stayed there and let hooper place him down

The way Habana twisted made it look like Hooper drove him down, when really it was gravity. was a yellow because of his legs.

the on field ref can now use the big screens for replays and decisions.
he can also rule before the TMO makes his decision even after referring to the TMO.

Habana landed on his back. Good hit. If Habana was past horizontal his twisting was partly the cause. IMO.

It's not possible to hurt Habana due to millions of layers of padding he wears

An amazing three weeks in Ranfurly Shield challenges, first Otago had it for a week after 56 years, then Hawkes Bay won it from them a week later after 44 years and the following week Counties have won it for the first time ever! Taranaki challenge for it this week, but they have had it in recent times.
