Top 5 sporting brands?

It only covers club sides though so the likes of the Wallabies, Socceroos, State of Origin, Australian cricket team and Australian F1 Grand Prix are not included.

But most importantly that was based mainly on the old NRL television contracts. These were massively skewed due to the Pay TV purchaser also owning half share of the NRL and a couple of it's top franchises. Do the same calculations now and NRL clubs would be much higher ranked.

It does say the Pirates are aiming for "the top five most recognised and respected Sporting Brands in Australia". It doesn't say the teams have to be Australian, so judging by the number of w*nk*rs in EPL soccer shirts you see in Perth, Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool are all in with a shout.

I could be wrong - and sometimes I am,

But I am sure that I read somewhere that the top two in Australia were Collingwood Football Club and the Holden Racing Team. But this was a couple of years ago.
