I'd be pretty surprised if he goes to France and pretty much gives up his international career at 23. He could go to France for 2013/2014 and then try and get a contract in Australia for 2015 so he can play in the World Cup, but I don't fancy his chances. Personally I think with the recent rule changes allowing the Force more overseas players, we could have a half decent side next year, he'd be stupid not to consider the Force.

your premise is based upon the assumption that he's not stupid, despite all evidence to the contrary.

I wonder whether any European club will be interested after all the media comment.

perhaps he could get a job with fox sports

Sorry yes. I was basing my opinion on him not being stupid! And not having a retarded management team.

His ego's as big as Greg Martins so he'd fit right in.

I remember reading somewhere that the French rugby contracting window for next season is closed. Anyone know if this is right?

If so, where would JOC and Badger be looking? Japan? Brittan? Southern Mongolia?

    What a knob he is!!!

Wallabies playmaker James O'Connor appears to be losing his allies in Australian rugby

JAMES O'Connor seems to be publically losing allies all over Australian rugby, and likely lost his biggest backer Robbie Deans as well by brushing his farewell on Sunday.

After Deans elected not to drop O'Connor or Kurtley Beale for their 4am finish in Melbourne or missing the team bus a week later in Sydney, sources have confirmed O'Connor was a no-show at the Wallabies team meeting on Sunday morning at 10am.

As reported, O'Connor and Beale were seen out heading into a Kings Cross club at 5.30am after the Wallabies' third Test loss to the Lions the night before. A function at the Opera House ended at 3am.

The Sunday morning meeting was a poignant one for Deans, with the coach aware he was probably about to be axed. He expressed his thanks to the players and effectively bid them farewell, on the chance he wouldn't be there for the Rugby Championship. That became reality the next day he was tapped by ARU boss Bill Pulver.

Wallaby teammates could only shake their head when the absence of O'Connor was noted...
