Trophy for local derbies in NZ

Something to consider in Australia or would it just be confusing when there is already a conference championship?

Extra edge has been added to the Super Rugby competition with the introduction of a trophy for inter-franchise games in New Zealand.

At the Auckland launch of the competition on Tuesday, the chief executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Steve Tew said the BNZ Cup would be awarded to the team accruing most points in local derby games.

Twenty of the 40 Super Rugby games played in New Zealand this season will be local derbies.

It's basically a separate points table where only games between NZ teams count.
