The price of a ticket to the Force v Brumbies practice match in Darwin last week was $20.
I'm told that RugbyWA are only charging $10 a ticket for the practice match being held in Mandurah tomorrow.
I would have thought that with the cost involved of staging this match it would require at least $20 - $30 per head to break even, given that the Mandurah venue can accommodate only 2-3000 people max, and that the game isn't being subsidised by the State Government to the tune of $300,000 as the NT Government did in Darwin.
It's not as if this was a spectacle being put on purely for the promotion of the game, otherwise why charge at all?
Sometimes it is difficult to appreciate the business acumen of these people ....
Force aren't charging it. Its all on Mandurah Pirates.

So you didn't buy a ticket for tonight Frank?
With the Darwin game the NT gov tipped in $300k for flights and accommodation for the teams then took the ticket sales from the Grandstand ($50 each) and Corporates ( $170 each) while the Brumbies gave complimentary country memberships to those punters.
The $20 general admission charge was the only money the NTRU got their hands on.
Looking at the tickets for tonight it appears its a Mandurah Pirates event and possibly Rugby WA not getting any $.
At the end of the day the game has to be played somewhere and its probably a nice hand up for Mandurah Pirates from RWA?
I even recall some Perth Spirit trials being played on suburban grounds.
No Gerry, I'm not able to go as I committed several months ago to MC a quiz night for the Cricket club tonight.
Lucky Mandurah Pirates if what blueandblack says is correct.
Poor mugs RugbyWA.
Wallowing around in the negative again Fulvio.

If you want to spend some extra money.... Make a donation to the Mike Brandler Trust Fund.....
What are you so defensive about, BS?
I played against Mike Brandler years ago and toured with him on a Golden Oldies tournament to Ireland. A great guy. He moved East many years ago and as I recall was injured over there. I wasn't aware he was back. If I'd known of the function before it occured I would have tried to attend if possible. I intend to make a contribution to the fund shortly.
What a shame the windfall from the match couldn't be directed to the Brandler fund.
Couldn't you organise that?
The Mandurah match - I thought it was the Normie Memorial Match
Nup the "A" playing against Perh Kiwi for the Mike Denton Trophy.
Good on you Fulvio,
If I was in a position to organise the proceeds of the game to go to Mike, I would.
As for being defensive.... I am just tired of reading so much negative stuff on the site.
There is always more then a dollar profit and loss to any function.
What about the money that the Mandurah Pirates will raise from the night. IF the Pirates Committee has half a brain they would be running a canteen and bar and be set for fundraising for the rest of the year.
The Goodwill that Rugby in general generates.
While RugbyWA wont be pocketing any cash from this outing - I am sure that the other benefits will last for a few years .
Maybe its time some people should stop saying what has RugbyWA done for us lately and start thinking what can we do for Rugby(WA)?
