I have heard that the old west stand is heritage listed as well. I would think that two stands could be built around the old one! Even build over the old one with a top stand? Change rooms could then be built as well. There are definately options available without demolishing the old stand. It isn't a great stand but I am one for looking after heritage.

Me too. As long as the building has a "character" that is typical of it's era. Even if it's not very aesthetic. A couple of examples are the old stands at North Sydney Oval and the SCG.
The western stand is a plain, rectangular brick construction devoid of character or imagination. The only things worthy of preservation, IMO, are the old turnstile gates - truly typical of their era and pleasing to the eye - and the Moreton Bay Figs.

Absolute agreement. I'm told moves are underway to get the listing lifted

That would be a win for upgrading!

Also keeping old gates is a good idea, along with figs!

Is there anything out there as a proposal for the west stand or would it all be waiting for the lifting of the listing?

Just to mention we all got a bit off track with this thread didn't we!

I love my sport, I will watch just about anything that requires effort, skill, endurance and usually a ball of sorts. I get the feeling though in the state of WA this is not the case with many demographics. This also seems to be the same with the media (main players) in this state.

The reason I say this is because I am sick of how Aussie Rules centric this state is or at least seems to be with how much it is in the sport news and in the papers and it is weeks away from their pre-season. Whereas Super Rugby pre-season is kicking off tonight with the Force and Brumbies in Darwin and nothing has been mentioned tonight on the local news channels, let alone anything about their pre-season training.

Is this a fault of the Force management or is the media so one-sided. To me if you are a journalist it should be in your best interest to cover as many demographics as possible!

Well rant over, but something stinks here!

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
