28,29 or 30 ........ Had a chat with memberships this morning but didn't ask precisely that question.

It appears that there was a last minute hitch for the east and south stands that resulted in a last minute reallocation of seating. As always, memberships have tried to do the right thing.

Ouch. I guess that means my row EE seats in E230 are just about or actually the back row

The problem is that the railings that have been fitted to the south stand entrances are huge and significantly obstruct the view to both left and right and it's assumed that it will be the same in the east stand. Hence everyone has been moved back half a dozen rows from where they might otherwise have been seated so that members do not have an obstructed view.

A design cockup that should not have arisen and may be resolved at some stage.

It has been a bit of a problem for memberships to sort out but as I said in an earlier post they have tried to do the right thing. Not everyone will be happy with the end result.

I have put in an application for a gold membership for the first time. I have stated a preference for the eastern stand but I have to hang by my thumbs and wait until all the current members have been sorted.

My chances of getting a seat bang in the middle will be pretty slim, but from what I've seen of the elevation of the stand everyone will get a good view.

When you say "the entrances" do you mean just on the corners, or do you mean the railings that separate each block in the stand?

The way it was explained to me was that the entrances into the new stand on the east side (not the lower ground tier) have larger than usual railings along the concrete walls on either side of the entrance opening. If you look at the NIB plan you can see where these openings are positioned and that the lowest seven rows (B to F) are the ones that are affected. This is obviously to protect the public from harm with the openings that exist for the entrances especially when everyone wants to leave at either half time or at the end of the match - given the steep angle of the stand. It doesn't apply to further up the steps past row F.

I was at Hong Kong in 2008 for the first "Bledisloe" played there and the stands at that stadium were pretty steep. I suspect the new east stand will be similar.

It was described to me as "it appears that handfulls off handrail seeds were scattered throughout the new stand and rails have popped up everywhere"....and exageration I'm sure, but there are some issues, not to mention some very late nights recently at HQ sorting it out.

    Cheers to them at HQ

I can see the new eastern stand from my desk - it does look very steep even from this distance!
