I just read this and am not sure the sentence really fits the crime as I think it now allows other to do similar and get lighter punishments when we are trying to teach young ones to play like their heros

Agree. That last sentence makes it sound like it's ok as long as you don't use enough force to injure someone.

yes I agree Gerry the knee might have been a mistake or unintentional but the head butt was intentional and thuggery is not required in rugby

2 weeks for the knee and 2 for the headbutt is on par with what they have been giving out this year. But to serve them at the same time is where I shook my head. They should be served one after the other for a 4 week ban.

The judiciary has gone soft!

I think the ban is long enough. The crime is no where near as bad as what Greyling did to Ritchie! I know it was a "headbut" but there are head buts like the one Zidane laid on that Italian player in the football worldcup a few years ago and then there the head rub that Higgers did the other night. Not in the same league.............

Bullshit, it is clear from the footage that Richie headbutted Higgers knee and then dragged Higgers to the ground by the ankle, which left Higgers no option but to present his forehead as Richie was about to give him a big kiss on the lips

One difference in this samction is its two tests, not two weeks. Compare that with in the past stuff like an 8 week sentence for eye gouging? but not actually missing a single game.

I think it's fair...I always thought it was low grade. Since it was a head butt it had to involve a suspension, but it wasn't as if he was trying to injure......Higgers is too much of a wimp for that.

If they allowed rucking back into the game, Ritchie would not be going where he dares to go now.

Rucking would eliminate all retaliatory kneeing, head butting, slapping etc.

Absolutely - those things were absolutely unheard of in the game when it was possible to ruck. Same with punching, gouging, high tackles, squirrel grips and loss of testicles...never happened when there was license to trample people.
