What a terrible turn out. We would have filled a stadium (I hope).
From what little I watched no commentator mentioned the bad turn out.
Couple off good Aussies there though.

Day 1 crowd was 12558 (people spend time out the back at the bars too - it's a very social day).. Day 2 will be about 10000 more. That will bring total attendance to near 35000 in its second year. These events take a couple of years to build. In another 2-3 years, this will be heading towards a sellout.

Yes pretty poor then. I wonder how long they will keep it if that's the best they can expect.

Adelaide aggregate in year 1 was 25500. By year 4 it had only grown to 31200 (source -http://www.sarugby.com.au/documents/Issue1-19January2011.pdf) .

Gold Coast aggregate crowd will beat this in year 2.

A sell out would be a poor result?

I love the look of that ground on the Gold Coast though! Reminds me a bit of the Rebels' ground.

Wonder if that's what we'll end up with at NiB??!!

Just seeing spectators would help. it really is a poor turnout!
I've watched the tournament when ever it's shown and I expect the only place with a worse turnout was America.
We just have to many codes I suppose and union just doesn't have a big enough fan base.

Fox Sports did a panoramic shot of the stadium after the plate semi between Australia and Argentina and its clearly "come dressed as an empty seat day"
