    East Coast Media/Reporters

With the influx of Media speculation over the Western Force Coaching situation we have copped a high number of speculative articles written be East Coast based reporters. And we here at TWF have collectively reacted to these reports.

I have an idea about this - a thought if you will, the problem is, it is very difficult to get the words right. Please bear with me, you might have to work with me a bit.

Lets look at Greg Growden as an example. Growden writes for the Sydney Morning Herald. The Sydney Morning Herald is a sponsor of the Tahs. The main purpose of the Sydney Morning Herald is to sell Newspapers in Sydney. Now this year with the Tahs having a shocker of a year and losing like 8 games in a row I would imagine it is difficult for Growden and colleagues to write interesting Rugby stories and still sell newspapers. It would however be much easier to pick on a non Sydney based side.

It would be a very safe bet that the Sydney Morning Herald and its band of merry reporters couldn't give a fat rats clacker about TWF or Western Force Fans or Western Australians in general. It isn't their market.

With these thoughts in mind. Does the reports that come from the Sydney Morning Hearld or The Herald Sun in Melbourne or The Australian et al loose some of their venom?

    I hope this makes sense.

Not really. They are about the only reporting on the game and totally unbalanced by anything pro-Force anywhere. Players read papers, coaches read papers, administrators read papers and if you say something long enough and often enough it becomes true.

that of course depends on what the "help" is referring to.
feel free to dig a bit deeper into the archives of twf before you question it, you might also find out why it's still the same avatar

for what it's worth, i think ex has a point. pieface is trying anything he possibly can to distract the readers of the SMH from the tah's dismal season. and if he can de-stabilize the force that much chekia asks the tahs for the job and they piss off foles. he would see that as the ultimate win.

unfortunately his sensationalism is doing a very good job of it.

the thing your forgetting/ignoring... These 'east coast' reporters are more critical of the Tahs and NSWRU administration then they are of any other Australian Super Rugby club.. Thats a third parties opinion on the situation.

The reality of the situation is, if you are a team performing badly on the field and off the field, then there will be negative news articles about said team. The Reds copped endless flack during the 2007/2008 era, but give then performance of the Reds and QRU they deserved it.. The Tahs are seriously copping it now, and the Force are also getting negative press.

I agree TOCC, but there is a bit of a difference between Force, which is a joke on and off the field and everyone expects to perform badly, and the Tahrds who field an entire team of wobblies and are expected to bein the finals every year.

BTW the Force get hammered and ridiculed at every opportunity, even when they do well. For example when they flogged the Reds the articles were all about Reds at end of road trip, playing 4th choice 10 bla bla bla, and when we did the Tahrds it was all Preorious can't pass, and wasn't Robbo a dimwit, and where did that NSW Shute Shield guy come from why didnt the Tahrds sign him up bla bla. Dont really recall too much about gee wiz the Force played well, flogging last seasons champs despite playing 3rd choice 10 and wow the Force beat Tahrds IN SYDNEY playing a Shute Shield ringer at 15 because they have such a bad injury problem.
