    WA Rugby Academy-funds

From the way rugby is going in WA it is imperative we keep our academy. From what I have read it would appear that the ARU in all its wisdom has pulled $200,000 from the budget thus forcing its closure!! Why they would do that the Lord alone knows. Stupidity springs to mind. If the money could be raised , could we save the academy?
    Could anyone enlighten me?
Surely with all the rugby fans here we could raise that sort of money!!

What stops us from re-igniting the debate and raising funds? It won't cost that much to set up. A completely private academy, successfully run, will really put it to the ARU.

I like your thinking but who is going to out the CASH up?
Collections at local clubs won't add up.
Alison suggested earlier that the miners put something in but"......
And then you have the big question of who will run it. Then if one of our trained players moves to Vic or Qland and gets a contract will we get paid.. The questions go on.
God it is so bloody awkward!

Allegedly the QRU will be funding their own academy in 2013, the new national academy is typically focussed more on the U20 age group, but its debatable whether this age group is really the best suited to provide depth to Super Rugby squads.

Im thinking of Caleb Ralph, Beau Robinson and Radike Samo as some of the players who the Reds used in 2011 who fit this bill.

Burgs Great but only NZ,SA! Nth American and Europe.
Maybe J'ON isn't prepared to pay in!
J'ON was bought into help Au rugby but as far as I can see he is killing it.
AFL is an on going sport. League is marketing it self full time. And RU is doing ???
The whole way the game is marketed in Au is wrong. The ARU only ever push the Wallabies. They seem to forget we're the players come from.
Until we get someone who loves the game and is also a business man we are in the sh1t.
Lions will eat us if we don't get our act together AT THE TOP.

My point exactly, if they can do it so can we. Contracts with players in the academy can be overcome especially if it is run as a private subsidiary of Rugby WA. I am sure legal structures can be set up. I am not sure how much it will cost , but even collections at rugby matches, merchandising and sponsorships should cover a large chunk of the money.

K200,000 doesn't come easy. That isnt even talking about the people To train them.
Must be structured to the clubs wether they be super or just run of the mill.
Most clubs have colts. what the ARU is doing is saying is " get these guys set up and we will then make them Wallabies"_maybe_ once you have INVESTED your time in them.
I don't know the answer but I believe this needs to be discussed and be part of ALL the Au super 15 teams.
