Mitchell could be forced out of Lions den by players

Lions coach John Mitchell's position with the Lions is coming under pressure after a number of Lions players have spoken out about the way he treats his players.

Beeld Newspaper has reported that some Lions players have told Golden Lions Rugby Union president Kevin de Klerk how unhappy they are with the way Mitchell treats them.

The revelation is uncannily similar to what happened in Perth in 2008 when Mitchell was with the Force and his abrasive temperament led to a group of senior Force stars putting together a dossier outlining their frustrations with Mitchell to the board.

That led to some of Mitchell's responsibilities being taken away from him and Mitchell eventually left Perth to join the Lions.

The Lions management are said to be working hard to restore order in the Lions as the players say they are unhappy about the "unreasonable" manner in which Mitchell is treating them.

The players faith in Mitchell is understood to be fading after yet another disastrous Super Rugby campaign this season.

After thirteen matches the Lions have won just twice and look certain to finish last in the South African Conference putting them in pole position to be replace in Super Rugby in 2012 by the Southern Kings.

The Lions still have to play Stormers in Cape Town (30 June), Rebels at home (7 July) and Bulls in Pretoria (14 July).

Methinks the guys are frustrated and looking for someone to blame.

Also, I didn't think Giteau was playing for them.

I thought the Saffas were a bit tougher than our princesses. What happened to the days when a coach was feared for his toughness but loved for it also?

They are watching the results of the most recent player revolt. And wondering if they get a world cup winning coach they will magically turn their next season around?
