Perth Gold has notched their first win in 2012 with a convincing 29-12 victory over visiting NSW 1st division side West Harbour on Sunday afternoon.
The home side’s forward pack of Cian O’Connor, Jeremy Smith and Ray Barkwill were dominant at the set piece and ensured the West Aussies had plenty of possession throughout the game.
Perth Gold scored five tries to two with Tobias Hoskins bagging a brace and Jake Ball, Ryan Louwrens and Brad Lacey all crossing for WA.
The performance showed significant improvement from their two previous outings against Perth Kiwi and Rebel Rising, in particular the sustained pressure on the West Harbour defence proved pivotal in building a platform from which to launch attacks.
Emirates Western Force players Cameron Shepherd, Richard Brown, Sam Wykes and Lachlan McCaffrey were also able to get some match practise under their belts following their recovery from injury.
Perth Gold next take on reigning Sydney Shute Shield premiers Eastwood at Harvey Field, Cottesloe this Sunday, 11 March at 5.00pm.
