    The Cider Thread

I don't think there is a dedicated 'Cider' thread - with the huge number of ciders coming onto the market, figured it was worthwhile.

Just bought a Rekorderlig Cider form the bottlo. Picked up an Apple and a Pear, trying the apple now - very nice, very very fruity (apple), very sweet - almost too sweet, but it's ripe apple sweetness as opposed to just sugary. It will likely be gone in about 2 minutes, at which point I'll give the pear a go and report back. It's a Swedish Cider in a 500ml bottle and comes in at 4.5% Alc (1.8 Standard Drinks).

On a scale of Strongbow to Magners, I'd give it a solid 8.5 red apples out of 10 - if you like your cider sweet, you'll love this.

    Rekorderlig Pear Cider

Wow - hyperglycemic shock! This is a very very very sweat pear cider, they are usually sweet, but this is getting a bit much. I mean, it's nice - but I wouldn't be able to cope with more than one. It's lost it's 'brewed' taste (which the apple cider barely had) and the sweetnes has taken over from the fruityness displayed by it's apple cousin. You could possibly use this as an alternative to a sticky desert wine.

Same tech stats as the Apple cider - a Swedish Cider in a 500ml bottle and comes in at 4.5% Alc (1.8 Standard Drinks).

Also comes in a myriad of other fuits flavours - definately aimed at the premix drinks.

Given peri's are often sweet I can't mark it too low, but would only get 5 sweet pears out of 10 from me - won't buy it again, but wouldn't knock one back if offered to me.

To my own amusement, I read the title of the thread in the "New Posts" listing as "The Cider Threat"

Don't try the Berry one Coach. It's even more sugary.

If you are drinking cider, drink proper WA Cider from the Cidery in Bridgetown. A lot of bottleos in Perth stock them.

You will find that all Magners now stocked in Wa is brewed and imported from England now and not Ireland. The Irish import is very orange in colour (more so than Bulmers) and this latest stuff is "piss" yellow and odes not taste as good, plus it is cheaper to import.

Rekorderling also do a Winter Warmer with Apple and Cinamon....a very nice breakfast drink

Is the publican still importing direct from Ireland?
